iRobot, we were actually talking with him in the Discord and he told us lot of things about what he's doing and the stuff he owns from the Missing list. I can confirm Dizzy's words. This guy seems pretty legal.

What went wrong?

We are sorry but our forums or the database dont contain any roms or isos, we dont allow/distribute that kind of software.

Knowing Inolen, i guess he just meant that he will implement it but he still wants to give priority to other task on his "I want to do" list. He's still working hard on the Android port and lot of people is asking about Windows CE implementation, so you can expect him to take his time about checking this.

As long as we have confirmation from devs being ok with how the structure works, they will implement it sooner or later.

Fantastic. I have zero access to any of those games  -.-

Well, i thought the situation was worse than that, guess it could be worse.

As my friend AlMagno and I have started to go after the PS3 Europe set, i wanted to ask if there's any dump submitted on our DB that is lacking any kind of info about the keys for encrypt or the disc.pic

We can take a look at some of them but we dont have any idea about which ones are lacking this.

Nevermind, i solved thanks to Billy.

AlMagno and I are trying to create the 3Dump.bin to start dumping for PS3.

We are using the method to obtain the Bin in +3.56 FW and when the moment comes, the guides explain a bit bad when it comes to create the file.

This is the NOR/NAND file that Rebug Toolbox created --> 20181219-130200-FLASH-NOR-FW4.81.NORBIN as well as the eid_root_key file.

But we dont understand how the file must be created using Hex Editor and worse, when we go to the NAND offset, is totally full of zeroes, there no other values in there.

Please, help me understand the process, i would like to update the guide to make it more understandable for casual users.

Leave it man, this is a lost battle already. Is easier to hide back the concerns and act like the project was made by rainbows and candies while the users are the one to blame... As always.

Since the day i joined ive been pushing this project as far as i could making my whole country to know what Redump is and trying to bring more and more support, recognising the involvement and efforts of every single user that have formed this place since it was born.

I may not be as old as the rest, or have the same technicals skills, but ive tried to do my best to pump some new blood to this place. And the truth is to pump some new blood, you need a pumping bomb working... The one in this place is a bit rusty.

Sometimes, lot of us feel like this place is getting dusty as hell. We've been expecting for months changes that not only take months to be done one by one, but doesnt seem to be of the concern of the administrator.

http://forum.redump.org/topic/18611/to- … e-updates/

http://forum.redump.org/topic/19969/seg … ticue-gdi/

An honest PM was sent to you, giving you thanks for your work, and to please, to mind about the forum problems, and it was answered by our dear admin more than a month after i wrote it. My grateful words received a "Thanks. By the way, fix your ring codes, all these are wrong... Bye". You tell me to fix my stuff when the admin takes months and months and months to fix the project problems?

The Private message system is terrible, my partners take weeks to answer because nobody notice them, the forums are old as hell and we dont give any concern about it, waiting patiently for this to change. A simple change was asked to make users dont get wrong messages believing Redump was a closed place and the answer was it was them to blame.

We have spend months kindly asking for changes so this project can do better and give the best of us, bringing new people, or better, give the keys to another person of your trust, and all the words i hear for all the people involved is that you wont give nothing for this project.

If you are not boycotting yourself this project, the only reason i can believe is that you actually prefer all this place to be as useless as hell to not attract any kind of lawsuit that could affect you.

Why dont you ask other DC Emu devs about this? Inolen from Redream was happy to know about the format change and he told me we can count on him.

Im sure if we ask to the Reicast Libretro devs would be happy to share their thoughts too.

Hi Groats, can you be a little be specific about what stuff can you help us preserve?

Which material do you own in your collection?

Did you check the missing lists in our Wiki?

So, probably you already know who I am.
I spoke with some people from VGPC who are also dumpers here (diego-rbb-93 and TonyLizard, cheers guys) and they convinced me that co-operation is in the best interests of everyone, regardless of past bad blood.

What I am proposing for starters is to contribute in your PSP stuff. This is a system I like and Redump dumping method is same as NoIntro. I have been contributing to them for several years already, so I guess submitting the same dumps to Redump is easy and beneficial to all.

I have a nice collection, about 200 UMDs right now. With TonyLizard we already identified several that are missing from your DB and the rest would probably be useful as verifies too.
If this goes well, we can always expand in the future to other systems, but let's try to start somewhere...

Please, he's doing great efforts to help us. I ask everyone who has any complain to leave behind any possible bad feeling and apreciate Maddog's efforts. Lot of stuff he's adding, he already dumped it on No Intro and he's helping again.

Since VGPC was born we have made big efforts to make everyone jump in no matter what problems ocurred long ago and that have let us double the material already preserved in the last months under good conditions.

The same way i ask iRobot to give him soon a Dumper status so he can add easily all his PSP Stuff in New Disc bar.

Welcome Maddog, me and my mates wish the best to you and your work! We apreciate as well your efforts over other systems preservation in the past, thanks!

Kippykip, is a GREAT honor to have you entering Redump. Dont worry, as soon as iRobot notices it, it will send you the account and password.

Can I ask you about the Spiderman disc? Do you have a pic of the disc or can tell us something about how you found it? Ive been leading an investigation over it and i thought it would really painful to find this version.

We are so happy to receive it, please, tell us about it if you can, im really curious!

I've just checked its Windows build and I couldn't get any CDDA sound of it, so I'm not sure if it's truly supports Redump-style gdis. Also it crashes every time you try to close it and doesn't seem to support the controllers. Maybe the Android build is better, but clearly not the Windows one.

Thats a question that the DC dumpers and the rest of the gang with enough technical skills to understand the process should talk on your side. xD

The process and tracks will be the same, just the db should generate cues instead of broken gdis.

Thats strange, he actually fixed the CDDA problem recently. The UI got recently a total upgrade, specially on the Controller customisation.  Are you sure you are using the last build?

Redream still needs some polishing over the next months and Inolen is right now totally focus on the Android version.

But, if you think something is wrong i would advise you to report. Their Discord/Gitlab place works great for asking/reporting.

We already are in the way to have the DC EUR Fullset done before the summer ends if everything goes ok (except some Revisional country revisions that will still be missing).

Soon, only USA will be needing a push over DC, so if you still want to talk about the format, it isnt a bad time to do it.

As ive been talking recently with JHMiller, our DC dumps made by Redump method are totally functional over Inolen's Redream emulator.

I decided to bring this up as this emulator will probably take the lead officialy over DC emulation in the next months, as soon as some fixes over sound and MMU emulation are done (beyond the specific issues that you can always find like visual glitches). A port for Android is coming to and the emulator is working flawlessly for the moment (beyond the open/closed source debate...). Setting it up is really easy and confortable to use for the moment.

Im not trying to sell the emulator, but is fair to recognise that is becoming finally a serious contender and im sure lot of us are tired seeing how NullDC, Reicast, Demul, Chankast... Never managed to master a confortable DC emulation or provide a non-extremly-slow development road.

TOSEC 2 Redump is a wonderful tool that still matter a lot, but in case there's still some problems with the format conversion, i advice you go and use Redream for testing.

Ive been talking with Inolen and he told me he already supported our dumps, specially because it seems our method allowed the "ip.bin" of the game to be dumped. This contains info that Redream preject used for building the Art DB (instead of using hashes to attach image art when displaying the game info over the UI, is searches the Ip.bin). Nobody has complained about them for the moment, so it seems Redream manages the GDI+Bin format with no problem for the moment.

As i said, i know lot of people were upset about seeing the emulator becoming closed source, but i respect Inolen's view of this and... He's delivering. tongue

Theres nobody in charge of PS3 dumping?

74

(5 replies, posted in General discussion)

Recently, i discussed with some users from Redump about taking a look at the PS3 dumping method so casual dumpers dont need to deal with OtherOS. In a few words: Let CFW handles all, with a dumping tool focused on obtaining all the neccesary data from the BD at only one shot, just like all CFW users do on Multiman for example.

http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … ping_Guide

For that reason i came looking for known sceners and i finally got a chance to talk with PixelButts on Wololo's website forums.

This was his first comment to the matter:

"The easy way that preserves quality of the disc integrity with a dump is buy a DECHA00A, throw D-REX rebug on there (and multiman) and dump as ISO then FTP the results to the PC. This allows one to bypass the need for 3k3y or any weird filesplitting.

I say DECHA00A because it's just an inherently good model, DECHA, DECHJ, DECH2000A, DECH2500A are all acceptable as well as their variants. DECH3000A, DECH4000AA, DECH4200AA are unable to be modded and therefore are bad. DECR systems are also acceptable but these have odd quirks that you'd only notice if you regularly do this stuff so I dont suggest them but if you want to then by all means.

Additionally, there are certain aspects of non-finalized PS3 discs that one should note too, and that is they don't need 3key or a PS3 to rip and decrypt them. Unfortunately this comes at the cost of dumping via IMGburn (or other medium) THEN decrypting with the SDK tools, or decrypt directly to loose files (which destroys mastering information). Ripping a non-finalized PS3 disc with IMGburn (or other software) is perfectly acceptable as the end result is an ISO that would be generated by said tools themselves, so an encrypted ISO is realistically the most 1:1 result of a disc even though you'd have to take another step to decrypt it (which isn't really that bad or hard).

Would you like me to explain anything else or are you satisfied with that explanation? I know there are other options if need be but that's if you want to hear them."

As i expected something more concrete about my concerns, me and user Pool7 asked in a more acurate to the point i had in mind:

" Thank you PixelButts for all the details and for taking the time to respond.

Although I understand and agree that a DECH would be the best / easiest option, in order to lure more people into preservation, we want to make the process as easy as possible. As such, asking a dumper to buy a new console may be overkill in most cases.

The idea is to try to simplify the current process for retail consoles, by eliminating the need of the OtherOS? Would this be feasible?
Is it something that would require additionaly programming? Or can existing tools be used to replace the current process?

If additional programming is required, do you know of anyone with the necessary skills/knowledge that may be interested in helping?

Any and all feedback is welcome. "

And so, this was his answer:

" So I'll start with the first issue. The console isn't really important, I just find that the lack of needing hardware flashing or any special method to put a DEX system on CFW is far worth the extra money in general, not just for this task.

Second issue I have is the need for 3k3y and the disk_key, disc_id and PIC. Although I understand why the disc_id is needed (and this one can easily be grabbed), the disk_key and PIC I dont overly see the use of due to them being excessive extra info (which for redump may not be as excessive but that's up to you). If you read here http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps4/Disc_Ident ... ation_Data (PS3 version is not maintained and you are redirected to the PS4 one, both use the same stuff) you can see that the PIC zone is really not that important as far as the set of information goes. The disc key is in a similar boat but only because this information is not as upfront and visible as the other stuff which you can see here http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Bluray_disc#IRD_file all of which can be found in the param.sfo file (except some stuff like the keys and encryption stuff, of which isn't honestly needed).
In short, of the 3 things the dumping guide wants, only 1 really matters because the other 2 are either just held in the param.sfo (and ps3_disc.sfb for part of it) with the PIC being virtually unneeded unless there's a specific thing you need from it. I'm sure if there's something genuinely needed or important in the PIC zone for redump then I can understand.

Additionally the problem I have with the existing dumping guide is that it's rather outdated (for example, enable direct disc access isnt an option anymore, it's just the default). Multiman by default (if cobra is enabled) will dump a decrypted iso which gives access to the param.sfo (which is all the main stuff needed) as well as allow you to hash the iso and get any extra metadata you may need. I've tested this with and without cobra mode. copy to iso is only an option with cobra if you want to use multiman. Other managers may vary (Irisman for example might be useful) but if you just need the iso off the disc then all of it is super easy now.

The third issue I might see is if you're wanting a build date or timestamp with the data. I know there's some ways to get that but I'm honestly not sure if you want to go by the timestamp given by the disc (as in just pop it into a disc imaging tool and check its info) or if you want to go by the data because the data and disc will possibly give different results. I wouldn't know as I've never actually checked that.

Getting a decrypted ISO isn't hard, getting the extra info is also not hard if you look at specific stuff on the disc ISO, so I don't see much reason to have to install OtherOS and run some 3k3y stuff if basically everything is there from the ISO itself. Is there something I'm missing about PIC or the Disc Key?"

My skills on this pattern are not high enough to fully understand both points (Redump's perception and PixelButts thoughts) but i wanted to put this on the table to check out opinions and see if its viable to rethink about the dumping process.

I encourage you to do this in order to help some casual guys with interesting CDs/DVDs in their hands that need dumping. Its time give one more step in order to attach some important dumps that are hard to find.
