Here we go again:

Manager: http://buscon.rae.es/draeI/SrvltConsult … MA=manager

Well, i don't want to start a flamewar in anyway. If the no-intro rules are the same for all the languages then it's ok.

It has nothing to do with any flamewar, it is about "clarification" regarding which are the proper ways of do the job; and in this particular case, it is about the respectfully manner of following some predetermined set of rules, according to the naming standards that Redump.org adopted.

Now, I know the English word "Manager" was adopted as a loanword by the Spanish idiom and that according to the "Real Academia Española" the "currently" proper writing is "Mánager", but as said by Rocknroms:

(...) has nothing to do with grammatic rules (...)

That is the core point of all this, whatever be the proper writing rules according to the official conventions of each specific language, there is useless here.

Could you imagine the hypothetical situation under which all the names in the db have to be written following the particular languages' rules of every idiom?

That's because there are common standards.

The fact is i was just trying to help, and i was just pointing at some orthographic errors i found.

The orthographic errors will be determined by the naming standards adopted by Redump.org, not by specific the writing rules of every idiom.

So, it would be good to know exactly which are the Redump.org's naming conventions.  roll

But well i don't care anymore, you can capitalize the way you want but expect to see from time to time someone like me poking on the forums because some titles looks ugly at their native language.

As I said before, I think the mods. and admins have to do their jobs according to certain "standards" and not "the way they want to", because that's basically the aim of the standards.

Finally, I think every time somebody have to report something regarding a "suspicious" game title, alternate title,  etc., they should have to do it only if they think there was a naming standards' violation; and not because they thought a title looked "ugly".

Regards.

P.D.

So these titles at the database are correct, and all follow the No-Intro namig rules?:

007: Der Morgen stirbt nie
007: Die Welt ist nicht genug
Manager de liga
Monde des Bleus, Le: Le jeu officiel de l'équipe de France
Tombi 2: Contra los cerdiablos
Versalles: Complot en la corte del Rey Sol

If you follow the No-Intro's naming rules, I think those titles should be written like this:

007: Der Morgen Stirbt Nie
007: Die Welt Ist Nicht Genug
Manager de Liga
Monde des Bleus, Le: Le Jeu Officiel de l'Equipe de France
Tombi 2: Contra los Cerdiablos
Versalles: Complot en la Corte del Rey Sol

After reading carefully this topic, here I leave you my two cents:

Aren't Redump.org using the No-Intro's naming convention? Doesn't all the titles in the db have to respect the rules from that standard?

I mean, according to "The Official No-Intro Convention (20071030)", in the "2.1.3 Capitalization" section says:

Generally all common names, adjectives and verbs should be uppercased.
Articles and link words should be lowercased except when first word.

Examples: Adventure of the Hero, Riding in a Car, Travel from Earth to the
Moon, From Earth..., Into the Darkness...

The official title written by the publisher or developer can be used as a
reference including related titles from other media (movie titles). Some titles
also have an unusual capitalization on purpose. In that case, capitalization
should be left as intended.

Example 1: RoboCop (= Roboter + Cop)
Example 2: Sonic The Hedgehog is all uppercase: "The" is his middle name,
not an article.

However titles that are entirely capitalized should be highly avoided except if
the title is an acronym!

So, under these rules, these titles are indeed right written:

"007 - El Mundo Nunca Es Suficiente (Spain)"

"Ciudad de los Niños Perdidos, La"

Now, it will all depend of which naming standards are Redump.org's currently using.

But looking at Devcon's advices, it seems to be he wants that all the Spanish game titles in the db use the "Real Academia Española" rules, not the No-Intro's rules or whatever be the standard Redump.org is using.

Under that particular point of view, every game in the db that belongs to a non-english speaking country, should be written according to the specific and official idiom's rules of said countries, and not according to a certain Redump.org's predefined naming convention.

So, as I said, it will all depend of what naming convention do you use: the official's idioms conventions, the No-Intro convention, the MusicBrainz's convention, etc.

The title says: Disney - El Planeta del Tesoro

I need to say the title is wrong capitalized, yes it's wrong writed on the media, the correct one is "Disney: El planeta del tesoro"

How do you know they wrote it wrong? Did you know which are the standards they used?

Another title i found is incorrect: Manager de liga should be: Mánager de liga.

Again, where did you found that name? Look at these pics:

http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/5624/managerdeligafrontalpor.jpg

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/9417/managerdeligacdporfrank.jpg

http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/6350/managerdeligatraserapor.jpg

In those pics. weren't never mentioned the accentuated, loanword "Mánager", contrarily the developers used the original English word. Moreover, according to No-Intro naming convention or the title itself, the right title should be:

"Manager de Liga"

And if you read the "Real Academia Española" rules, you will find that even under those rules, you can write the next game titles without any problems at all:

"007 - El Mundo Nunca Es Suficiente (Spain)"

"Ciudad de los Niños Perdidos, La"

"Manager de Liga"

"Disney - El Planeta del Tesoro"

The above titles are within these rules:

(...)

Wait a minute, I see that spaces too, and even in my old 4:3. yikes  I think Dremora need to implement an "adaptative" aspect ratio, for both 4:3 and 16:9 resolutions. cool

Beat me if I'm wrong, but wasn't accorded some time ago everyone here will use English as a standard idiom?  roll

Indeed there are "releases somewhere", but as far as they doesn't being hosted by Redump.org, nobody can't accuse you of nothing. The Redump's members just post info about releases not the releases themselves.

It is a fact that the companies can't control the constant and growing piracy, but as far as I know Redump.org isn't related at all with any piracy act and that is their problem.

Moreover, under that logic, a company could accuse you just by the fact that some of the games' hashes they found here, matched with those from pirated games; and that's quite absurd.

Securom ones should be apparently dumped in 2064 mode, no tool yet. StarForced ones can be dumped with anything, but they won't work smile Topology can't be really called the "data", so we don't plan to dump them. Also, I don't like an idea to dump the very recent titles (3 years old and newer) - this is piracy, not preservation (recent titles aren't going to extinct or something).

WTF?  yikes

What exactly makes the dumping of "recent titles" an act of piracy? I mean, how could somebody use the dump's data to make illegal copies of games; moreover, when Redump not even provide Alcohol's MDS or other related files.

I just downloaded the new 2.6 (09/10/09) version and tested it thoroughly with the serial I mentioned above and it still %100 working and functional. big_smile

I think the guide is just out of date; you should use the latest, final, available version. There are some mistakes/fixes on the PS2 guide, so it just need to be updated. wink

By the way, regarding the IsoBuster registration, if you didn't buyed the program and contrarily are using a pirated key, you should note that as far as I know there is just one "legit" and "%100" functional key available out there.

Those keys generated by the "Again" or "ZWT" keygens and others keys were banned by the software's author some time ago, and although they seems to work well (because the program accept it as valid keys and you see "Pro" version on the about screen) they aren't valid keys.

To test if you are using a non %100 functional key, just try to make an extraction from a disc with a UDF file system and/or try to make an extraction from the HFS or HFS+ file system from an Hybrid ISO disc and you could see a nag telling you you "Only available in registered version" from the program. tongue  Moreover, you could try to fordward your system's clock some months, and next time you want to use the soft, you will get a trial period expired message when trying to use it.

Those wanting the valid and %100 working key, just drop me a pm and I will send it to you as soon as possible. big_smile

P.D. I ask you to send me a pm because I don't know if it is allowed to share the key directly here in the forum. wink

It will takes just a little change to the actual system, I mean, if each time a mod/admin needs to add or edit x dump, they just will have to add their names to the dumps' page they added/modified.

Of course a complete "changelog" site itself will be great, because there will be not only the names from the mods which made the additions/modifications, there will figure all the changes themselves; but this will take some more time.

I'm just wondering if wouldn't be good to know what mod/admin, add or edit the dumps made for the site?

I mean, it will be good to know such thing and eventually to know with which mod/admin a dumper need to talk or P.M. about anything he wants to.

Moreover, it will be helpful even for the mods themselves when they want to know the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

So your dumps are burned and not retail discs?

Actually I own those games, but I tried this one on a friend's chipped PS2. I'm just wondering why didn't worked the burned game and what are that "extra" weight on one image. roll

Sometime ago, I dumped a PS2's game called "Scarface: The World Is Yours" and published here; yesterday I tryied to play it with my PS2 console and it doesn't work ok. I mean, I swapped the game a lot of times and even tryied on a different PS2 console, but the game gave me just a variant sequence of errors:

Mainly "load errors", I mean, sometimes it stopped in the first loading screen and didn't finish the loading; other times, the game was a little bit late but it loaded just fine and I could play it, but that time I only played some minutes because when a video sequence arised, it just frozen and I had to reset the console.

After many tries, it were always the same errors, so I decided to verify my disc against other images from the same game, so I downloaded all the images I found (from different uploaders of course); I had downloaded a total of 5 images and all have the same hashes and size, so I think my disc isn't failed because it haves the same size and hashes that all the other images I downloaded but it refuses to work at my PS2 console, so the only I can think is that I burned at a very high speed (16-18 x, high quality media), no more, no less hmm .

But, here begin my real question

I downloaded another image and here are the strange fact:

It haves the very same content but it weights a little bit more and haves different hashes that all the others images I downloaded. yikes

How could this be possible? hmm

I compared their raw, hexadecimal content with HxD, and effectively it told me:

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5353/capture091920090516221.th.jpg

Thanks in advance. smile

P.D. The game link is: http://redump.org/disc/8121/

OK, I understand now wink  I just was influenced by the forum's forms; maybe they need some little corrections. hmm

Thanks.

I'm was going to add 2 new original PC games to the db, but now I'm just wondering how to obtain some values I'm missing:

EXE date and Serial.

It is particularly confusing with this game:

Battlefield 2: Complete Collection

Because it haves like 4 games in one DVD and I don't know where I have to see for the EXE's data and its serial.

Some snapshoots:

Main folder:

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/3488/capture09022009070720.th.jpg

Games folders:

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/1097/capture09022009070752.th.jpg

Maybe I just have to add the next UI's data as general date:

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5134/capture09022009070847.jpg

Thanks in advance.
