Are you trying to dump severely damaged discs or something? Get them buffed.

Just a couple of old CD-Rs.

1,853

If you remove the /c2 in the command line it will dump without checking for c2 errors BUT it will dump with errors and all so it's not for if you want a good dump but if you are trying to just recover an old CD it will let you get an image you can try to recover at least some of the data off of which is what I did a while back using the same method.

Also try reading the discs in the same drive that wrote them.

Yes but I meant an option to continue dumping later...

1. The disc has many C2 errors and it needs 10000 or more retries to dump the sector. Imagine that we have many of these sectors. It's not the best way to leave the drive work several days. Also, cold drive reads better! More chances with cold drive!

2. This option would be also great... If no amount of retries was set. The disc was dumped but we need to re-read C2 sectors. Maybe it's possible to code an option to allow the DIC to go to the next sector if all 4000 attempts weren't successful? 4000 with next sector etc. And to go back to these previous sectors to try 4000 attempts again and again.

With the second option we can get as many sectors as possible to go back to really hard sectors.

The best way is to combine both options to allow to read hard sectors after the drive became cold again.

Are you still challenging to dump this disc?

psx-collector wrote:

Would be very nice if DIC would try to read next hard sector if previous one wasn't dumped after all retries. It would help to dump all hard sectors leaving only very hard ones. Is it possible to add this function?

Some sectors in your CD-R perhaps can't recover, so resume function is also vain efforts I think. Please get new CD-Rs if it's possible.

sarami wrote:

No, it's another disc. No big scratches but some C2. I would try more and more because several sectors were done after 10000-15000 retries so I still have a hope. Cold drive and disc also work better sometimes.

Now it leaves empty sectors after hard sectors which can be done after several retries. A continue option would help to dump at least these readable sectors after hard or very hard sectors.

sarami wrote:

No way to get any new ones. They are the only known.

The first one mentioned above is scratched. I still need to resurface it to try again. The second one is not scratched but some sectors are very hard to dump. Maybe even impossible but it's hard to say without continue option. The discs are press/preview discs.

I would try more and more but the only way now is to set millions attempts and to leave the drive to work several days. No way to try with cold drive and disc then.

I bought a UGREEN USB3.0 TO IDE/SATA adapter instead of motherboard SATA and it works without any problems. So either my hardware or cables were a problem. I should clarify, it is a PX-755SA.

I see some "SubQ Reread [crc16 unmatch] -> NG. Fix manually" lines in _subError.txt, should I be concerned about those? ECC/EDC check is fine.

What tool? HashMyFiles is accepted for me because CUI is supported.

1,863 (edited by Nexy 2019-05-20 19:09:29)

CUI has its own, and I was going to make my own with optimizations and SSE so it's not bound to pentium II speeds.

I have to redump 1800 discs and dump several hundred more, the non optimized hashing adds up to a lot of time with that many discs, and I am not getting any younger. big_smile

Hi,

I just dumped a PC game : http://forum.redump.org/topic/22515/pc- … sc-french/

Due to C2 errors, DICGUI shall not have created the .cue, .bin, ...
However, as you can see, all these files, incl. the submissionInformation have been produced.

As discussed on discord, I'm reporting this here.

1,865

As of 20190326
I can no longer dump unlicensed PS2 discs with /sf flag.

All my posts and submission data are released into Public Domain / CC0.

Does HashMyFiles work in your PC? If yes, I can execute it from DIC. If no, please upload your CUI tool. I can also execute it from DIC.

DIC version 20180630 31122 and DICUI 1.10 is not latest. You can use the latest version.

Logs? My unlicensed PS2 disc is no problem.

HashMyFiles definitely works on this PC, I will check it on XP machine. But it's OK if I can hash after dump too on modern machine.

:EDIT:

HashMyFiles is even slower than your implementation, I will just live with it until I can come up with something and let you know when I do.

If disc is "Format: CD-I", Track 1 is omitted (perhaps firmware bug). For this, TOC couldn't get correctly.
This was fixed and the disc's hash that he and I have was all matched.

Yes I know. CSS.exe hasn't supported it yet.

5 c2 errors exist, but I don't know why c2 error recovering function doesn't work...

Bug about 2nd session multi-track disc was fixed in the latest test version (20190524 230157).
Cue sheet that admin defines was supported in the latest test version.
If admin and Jackal say 'no problem', I'll commit the code in github.

Yes, and I can confirm that the dumped image is now complete as I tried it on a CDi emulator and the game is correctly playing.

What is strange is that 'The apprentice' for CDi, european version, from the same game creator is still detected as a 'audio CD' only on my Win7, and (incorrectly) dumped as that... Seems like the disc format for these 2 games is slightly different between US versions & european versions...
