hi im trying to dump dragon valor for psx, but i have encountered some issues not discussed on the guide...

it is my first rip.. big_smile

first:
i have only one Data track01 and one Audio track02..
second:
gap on track 2 says 0.. how can i confirm it?

i already extracted the data file, im stuck just with the audio one... i saw a post a should use perfectrip i might cause i have an old plextor around the house.. but just to be sure the steps i should take...
my findings:

when i check view sectors on track 02 its all like this:

if i substract 149 from lba

if i substract 151 from lba

if i substract 152 from lba

the first two digits of the last four numbers changes if i go bak on sectors.. 22...21...20..19..

what should i do?

it looks like track02 actually has a pregap of 2:00, this is a bug in EAC when there is only 2 tracks.

Try to rip with perfect rip, if that doesn't work, then you can extract the sectors manually with ISObuster (from-to) and attach them to the EAC dump of track02 with a hex editor. You need to know the combined offset of course, because it's likely you'll have to compensate for that... if you check the video guide posted in the stickies it can show you what to do. Although it has to do with large negative offset... it is the same technique.

Yes, I think Nexy is correct. Because you get all 00s (no 'garbage data') when you go back 150 sectors in track2's 'sector view', you are likely dealing with a negative combined offset  for that game. It's probably a disk with -12 or -647 offset.

As far as I know, you can't accurately know a CD's offset if the 'combined offset' is negative (unless your drive supports the 'px_d8' program), and you can't dump audio tracks unless you know the CD's offset.

I kept having this problem with -12 and -647 disks (because my drive was only +6).  I finally bought a
LG Electronics - DVDRAM GH24NS50 drive off Amazon that is +667 and I haven't had that problem since.
The only downside to the GH24NS50 is that it doesn't support 'over-read' so I have to use a different drive to to make sure it doesn't cut any data off the end of the last audio track.

What is your drive's offset?

i see that my plextor is perfect for the saturn and sega cd guide might give it a try with that guide, but i would like to know a bit more about the offset too  big_smile

Well, with the Plextor, finding the disc's offset is easy. Just insert the disc and use px_d8 (usage: px_d8 plextor_driveletter 0) and it'll tell you the combined offset. The offset of the disc is that result -12 for your drive.

So, once you know the disc's offset, you can dump in your other drives without counting garbage data. Let's say that px_d8 gave you +14. You subtract the drive's +12, telling you that the disc is a common +2. So, if you wanted to dump it in your DVR-112D, you'd use +48 + +2 = +50 in EAC's offset correction, or -24 + +2 = -22 in your LG drive. EAC will give a bad result for Track 2 when the combined offset is negative, so you'd best use another drive with a positive combined offset or PerfectRip in that case.

What the offset does is shift the position of the audio data. If you have +14 combined and you sector view the 2nd track, you'll see that there are 56 bytes of 00 (4 bytes per sample) preceding the audio data. In the case of a negative offset, the track will actually be pulled into the earlier sector.

Just a tip: the Accuraterip list has a wrong entry for the 716A. The actual offset is +30.

ok, i just run the plextor drive... had to updt the FW first... the offset is -617 samples...
so im giving perfect rip a chance.
thats the way to go right?

allright, i use the SS sega cd guide... got the files without C2 errors  big_smile

how do i check for corruption on cdmage?... On the scan for corruption button? i just did and no errors..

track01 starts at sector 150 (2sec pregap right?) and ends at 251.122
track02 starts at 251.273
so theres a 151 pregap.. 2 sec right?

i also check for 12bytes from PR on the first pregap and nothing smile everything is fine

so im stuck right now whats the next step? should i use EAC with these findings?... or is my rip complete (datawise) for submit? kind of lost rigth now... roll
