Slow reading in this case is a firmware issue, AFAIK.
Please tell me px_d8 log & dump data to cdtoimg (about sector 1-5) your PX-W1210TA (1.10) & PX-W2410TA (1.04)
Here is the px_d8 log and cdtoimg data: http://www.mediafire.com/?0yya05nd27pz842
The PX-W2410TA is the only drive still detecting the wrong CD offset, the PX-W1210TA is correct with the 1.10 firmware.
I bought below and tested.
The Crow: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack(82519-2)
Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill(9362-459012)
WipEout 2097: The Soundtrack(7243 8 42226 2 8)
Surely, Jagged Little Pill and WipEout 2097 is R-W bit full and reading speed is very slow.
So, fixed it at 20130124ver.
The PX-W2410TA is the only drive still detecting the wrong CD offset
Previously, I had that drive, but I disposed of it... I want to buy it again.

Excellent, tested the new release. No more supermegaslow reading speed for such CDs.
I have noticed a possible bug. I have dumped two discs, the first one with DCP flag (Q-Control=2) and the second one with PRE flag (Q-Control=1), and the cue file isn't writed properly. FLA instead of FLAG DCP/PRE and the CR+LF.

Seems you are making some headway with this, I'll start testing it too then.
I have a PX-W1210A and a PX-W1610A also, I can test some things with it. I do know that px_d8 fails with certain discs. Firmwares are latest ones. I am not sure if it's a bug with px_d8 or if it's a problem with the firmware.
Tested the Unicode release. PRE/DCP written correctly:

I have tested a multisession disc, Blue Book standard. CUE file isn't created properly. The cue format file doesn't support multisession, but IsoBuster and ImgBurn can, extra officially, support it. I have dumped this Blue Book using ImgBurn and IsoBuster, and I have got identical dumps, but ImgBurn can previously detect gaps, ISRCs, MCN and other flags. Also, I have noticed that these programs fill the gap between the last sector of session 1 and first sector of session 2 with digital silence, to simulate the gap between both sessions.
Your software outputs this cue:

I think it is a firmware issue.

I think it is probably a drive firmware issue causing this to happen. I tested CDs with CD-TEXT and without CD-TEXT, both need -686 in PerfectRip. EAC needs +98 for both. Hopefully you can find the cause when you get the drive.

That explains it. I wasn't adding an extension since it's usually added automatically. Can you make the program ignore extensions?
Enker, could you try PF with/without subcode reading, and check if both dumps differ? I think, due to a bug of firmware, your drive reads one sector before than expected if subcode reading is requested.

That was the issue, thanks! The PerfectRip tracks now match EAC when using -98. I had to manually move the gaps to the correct position, though.
I find your tool very useful to dump the -5000,0 range as audio, due to D8 command support. No more audio disc and disc swapping required.
discimagecreator -ra h: 4 TOC+Pregap -5000 0.
What does exactly your tool if certain sector is unreadable? Skip or replace with generic data that sector?

That's interesting. Can it dump the subcode too of those sectors? That would be really cool if it can.
43 2013-02-01 19:31:03 (edited by pablogm123 2013-02-01 19:49:37)
Of course, you can dump that range (main channel + subcode) to obtain a dump of a piece of lead-in (including the raw TOC stored in subcode) + first pregap + a few of sectors of program area. As sample, I have dumped the -5000,0 range from my Alien Trilogy PC disc, drive used is a PX-W5224A:

Anyone tried to read the $FF000000,0 range?
No success, doesn't support this input. Anyway, I have try to read the $FF000000 sector using the View Sectors of CDTool, and no luck, the drive remains busy a few of minutes and reports an error.

Try other discs, better with the data-type lead-in.
Well that's pretty awesome. How about lead out?

Windows 7 64 bit enterprise, unicode version of tool.
You have to enter this range: -5000, 0. When the drive reachs -1000 LBA more or less will report a read error, but doesn't matter because TOC+pregap will be dumped.
-150,-76 range is not supported by Plextor drives.
To overread into lead-out an old Lite-On drive is better (without disc swapping I mean). My CRX220E1 and LH-20A1P can read both a maximum of 6749 sectors of lead-out (audio type). PX-W5224A only 100 sectors.

Yes, but he won't get a dump even with proper parameters - the tool doesn't work on win7 x64 giving Key:Asc:Ascq:04:1b:00(HARDWARE_ERROR. SYNCHRONOUS DATA TRANSFER ERROR). Same for me, same for Jackal and others.
