Sarami, is there any downside to adding the "/be pack" command when dumping DC HD Area?

Someone recently told me it helped them and I'm thinking of adding it to the default command in the dumping guide.

Also, DIC is reporting HD Area data tracks as "AUDIO" in the cues FYI https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ … GZxPi7Vkvh

Mod consensus on the discord is that Karaoke discs of formats that aren't automatically qualified for Redump should not be included at redump (VCD, CD+G, DVD-Video), and No-Intro Non-Redump dats would serve as a better home. If any Mod cares to challenge this and hold a vote - by all means do so. But otherwise, this question should be considered answered.

Thanks! I'll roll with it.

Hi welcome!

Pretty sure this is a dumped PAL demo, but search the serial number in redump to see what pops up.

Here's our dumping guide (for most formats): http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … uide_(MPF)

If you're in USA

UGREEN is here https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Adapter-C … B01AW40QZW

Kingwin is here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019HLE7Q

I've spent the last few years building a huge, elaborate chart of various countries and their OPS2M Demo coverdiscs here http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … zine_Demos

https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/022/524/tumblr_o16n2kBlpX1ta3qyvo1_1280.jpg

While for most countries, most demo discs themselves were recycled between regions. Based on the disc label numbering, the UK build of the disc was used as a basis for re-releasing it into other countries - Australia, Benelux, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russia, and Spain. However most countries got a handful of exclusive builds for these demo discs, most prominently Germany for which most of it's demo releases are exclusive builds.

The wiki is pretty accurate and contains a lot of painstakingly assembled details that myself and others have added. By tracking magazine issues and investigating serial numbers (specially on disc labels), we've been able pinpoint what we believe is every exclusive build left to be dumped. One caveat "Serial dumped" just means the serial number has been dumped from another region, but it would be great to verify each issue demo from each region. More importantly however would be to target the last few identified exclusive builds - all from Germany.

Despite being coverdiscs, I've found the last remaining Germany demos impossible to track down so far, so I'm posting this info and leaving it in the hands of any Germans that might be interested in keeping an eye on ebay /ebay-kleinanzeigen.de / etc for these. The list of what's undumped is here: http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … os#Germany

If we consider serial numbers, here's the status country-by-country:
- UK - all builds probably dumped. The only reason I can't say for sure is because most UK additions to redump were listed initially as "Europe" making it difficult to backtrack the source country of these dumps.
- Australia - all builds dumped
- Benelux - all builds dumped
- Denmark - all builds dumped? All known discs match other regions.
- France - all known builds dumped. Some of the later issue serial numbers are unknown, but it is likely they match other regions.
- GERMANY - HAS SOME UNDUMPED BUILDS!!!!!!!!~
- Italy - all builds dumped
- Poland - all builds dumped? All known serial numbers match other regions.
- Portugal - all builds dumped
- Russia - all builds dumped? All known serial numbers match other regions.
- Spain - as of today, all builds dumped!
An asterix being that two different regions having the same serial, at least one of those regions is dumped per serial.

It may very well be this project has gone as far as it will, but in case any Germans out there have an interest - it would be very cool to finalize / get closer to preserving the last few exclusive OPS2M builds!

I'm sorry, you're right - needed dvd command.

>Can IsoBuster dump the xbox disc? I didn't know it.

Only beta DVD-R. Same result as dic.

sarami, the latest build is not dumping Xbox beta discs which I believe are non-windows native filesystem (here are logs, all other log files were 0kb/blank): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D23WFY … sp=sharing

however IsoBuster is dumping them fine: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ … nknown.png

Possible to fix please?

A potential solution (if anyone smart enough is up for it) would be to fork WinCDEmu and add support for mounting such discs as desired. Once mounted, of course the disc could then be browsed in Explorer or IsoBuster or whatever app desired.

Hey Drakkhen, having written by and far most of the dumping guides myself I can assure you it's something that no one else likes to do. The reason I wrote some of the guides (PS3 / blu-ray video dumping) is because I didn't understand the process and essentially had to bug others on discord for the knowledge. You might have luck asking in the VGPC discord, but unfortunately I don't know how to do the above so I can't write this guide.

That said, what disc is giving you issues? I have dumped several DC discs with dcdumper/ice and only had *real* trouble with maybe one? Put the troublesome disc at the bottom of the pile.

I'd consider this - dumping the easy to dump discs first with dcdumper/ice. When your HD Area drive is acting up, then let it cool down - I believe drives get persistently harder to dump with the warmer they get. I can't substantiate this other than anecdotally. In the past, I've had two HD Dumper drives and swapped them out to let one cool and continue dumping with the other.

Another trick is - say you can't get section 40 to dump after many tries? Delete section 39 bin and restart the process, your dump will continue where it left off, other than needing to redump section 39 / 40 for example.

Never noticed this. Looks like Kiss-Site and iKTV are the same hardware set. https://twitter.com/MrBurns32X/status/1 … w&s=19

Karaoke-CD 1.0 is the first version of the Video-CD specification

Just to clarify for the iKTV and Kiss-Site, the format is standard VCD. It doesn't make any sense to split them off into their own dat per existing rules for other systems. I'm just seeking clarification because it appears redump is breaking their own rules for iKTV and Kiss-Site branded VCDs.

For example, if iKTV and Kiss-Site branded VCDs beings split-off into their own dats was based on an established rule:
-Philips CDi branded VCDs should have their own dedicated set.
-Philips CDi branded Photo CDs should have their own dedicated set.
-3DO branded Photo CDs should have their own dedicated set.
-Hundreds of VCD Karaoke series should each get their own set.

I'm sure there's a few other examples to be found, but the above came to mind quite readily does make an interesting case for what an established rule would look like. Not that I expect any codified rule to clear this up because quite frankly no one's all that interested in VCD or Karaoke (including me tbh), but splitting the same format into multiple dats arbitrarily does give me OCD.

Alright, manifesto finished and I rest my case. I'll leave this in the hands of the mods.

>I feel iKTV and Kiss-Site should remain separate as they're dedicated discs for specific systems (Even if they're playable on other devices).

To play devil's advocate, shouldn't we split off the Philips CD-i branded VCDs then into their own dat?

I wanted to bump this discussion to seek clarity / rules about datting Karaoke VCDs.

1)
I noticed that iKTV and Kiss-Site have their own respective dats:
http://redump.org/discs/system/iktv/
http://redump.org/discs/system/ksite/

I think this probably is not a great idea because they appear to just be standard VCDs, and there are countless karaoke VCDs / series. So it would kind of be like datting Photo CDs that are branded 3DO under the 3DO system.

If we want the karaoke VCDs separate from the other VCDs, maybe we have a 'VCD - Karaoke' dat?

2)
In the past we've kind of touched on whether or not Karaoke qualifies as a game and should be included. Can we establish a rule one way or the other? For example if Karaoke VCDs are dattable, are karaoke CD+G or karaoke DVD? Not that I think anyone is going after these discs per se. If we're taking votes, personally I think karaoke could be considered a game.

IsoBuster beta added support for reading some multi-session multi-bin/cue dumps.

I think some multisession dumps need further definition in the cue files before IsoBuster could even adopt whatever the redump cue standard would be.

I don't think DIC works well with non-Plextor drives for Dreamcast games at the moment because these drives lack the ability to find and correct c2 errors. This isn't a problem for DCDumper because it just keeps retrying sections of sectors in passes until it gets a match, but I think if DIC encounters an error in GD mode without C2 or scramble read it seems to stop dumping.

Good point, I tried dumping a GD-Rom with DIC on my Samsung drive. After 10 or so attempts I just gave up because there was always at least one error. For DIC GD-Rom dumping, only using Plextors makes sense.

I believe FatArnold dumped all their GD-Roms with 708/DIC back in the day. I tried doing this a long time ago - probably with another PX model and just gave up (which makes sense since so far only 708 is confirmed GD-Rom friendly).

Replace English with American English and British English and go through 80,000 releases to figure out which dialect should be assigned to each release.

>Out of curiosity, does anyone else use a specific IDE to USB adapter for the drives that can dump GD-ROMs?

Yes, bad IDE adapters will FRY your drives, they might not fry them right away either which makes you wonder if that's why your drive stopped working.

"Kingwin IDE to USB" on Amazon is cheap but VERY GOOD because they got voltage regulated perfect. Another good one is search "UGREEN USB to IDE Converter, USB 3.0 to IDE" - more expensive, but nicer looking, I've had one of these fail on me but it didn't fry my drive.

It sounds like you might be the foremost expert on this subject, so ... if it's ever going to happen will probably be you doing it.

If you go for it, good luck! Easier Dreamcast dumping would be awesome!

>Mastering Code is different. Simply, it's another version? I'm not sure.

Different than in redump, but that is not what i'm talking about. The DIC dump is considered bad - see http://forum.redump.org/topic/44992/wip … lightning/

Hi sarami, a month or so back a dic dump I submitted on behalf of CDO was been rejected, see - http://forum.redump.org/topic/44992/wip … lightning/

The logs for a dump of Blue Lighting can be found here - redumped with the latest DIC build (it still has the same rejected hashes as the previous dump) https://archive.org/download/bluelightning-jag-cd

Interestingly, the hashes are different than those of the redumper app (logs for which are also present in this archive entry).

Actually in hindsight, I'm getting dcdumper with ICE.exe - for which we don't have source code (thus I can't properly fix my System 2 dump http://forum.redump.org/topic/41632/dc- … ice-error/ )

I wish, I have tried to reach themabus in the past, no luck.

Is there any reason to believe it doesn't match this dump? http://redump.org/disc/33796/

If not, then I wouldn't go through the trouble. Otherwise you can always get discs resurfaced.
