At least with my setup, the latest release is completely unusable: getting c2 errors on every sector, and a warning that the drive does not support subchannel pack mode, while the 20230909 release had no problem (bw-16d1ht + ribshark firmware + sata to usb adapter).

I can confirm this.

In the wiki, there's this guideline:

For IBM PC, "Xplosiv" and "Sold Out Software" are added to version (datfile) for said editions, because these discs have modified (branded) autoruns and setups.

While this does not apply to most Serie MAX release, I've found this to be the case with some of them. All of the examples I could find are attached to this thread.

There was an original (likely big box) release of Fallout which came with this manual, which wouldn't have this Serie MAX launcher. There's also an undumped Serie Plus release of Virtual Pool 2 (available for sale sadly without the big box) which also wouldn't have this new launcher. And finally there are two versions of Bugs Bunny: Perdido en el tiempo (Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time), a regular edition, and a Serie MAX release, one of which likely has the custom launcher. The original local release of Actua Soccer 3 was originally published by Microbyte, too.

My question is, should those releases which have a new launcher have their DAT name changed?

Disc: Split/Second (Argentina) (En,Fr,De,Es,It).
Drive: Plextor PX-755A.

BTW, if for whatever reason it seems like its way too slow (like 3+ hours) or seems like it stalled, feel free to stop it by using Ctrl+C and upload what you have. Some drives just don't like being bruteforced to that high value. I could probably restrain the values it's bruteforcing with but you never know if a vendor might be sneaky and put something at 3C FF FF or something, lol.

Here you go. I will try with another DVD later.

It has finished, here it is. The dumped disc is Earth 2160.

Have you considered adding a license?

Dump update: It has been stuck in F1 0C for a while now.

I got an error that appeared twice saying that "cygwin1.dll" was missing, and then the program closed.

Redownload the zip and try again, it needs cygwin installed and I forgot to include some of the .dlls inside. tongue

Now it works. I'll reply again with whatever it generated once it finishes. This is the disc I'm dumping right now, with my LG WH14NS40.

I got an error that appeared twice saying that "cygwin1.dll" was missing, and then the program closed.

I have a copy of a Spanish DVD re-release of Patrician III, which according to Alcohol 120% has ring protection between the sectors 478720 and 508463. I tried using the --help command via PowerShell, but it only flashes for a split second before closing. I've used the following command, without much success:

CDArchive.exe --mode=ext --extrdiscmode=dvd --extrdrive=F --extrsectdir="M:\CDArchive\Patrician III" --extrstart=0 --extrend=1046592 --exttrefcue="M:\CDArchive\Patrician III\IMAGE.cue"

I replaced the "0" with 478720 and 478000, and "1046592" with 508463 and 509000. In all instances, the program flashes, and never shows any text.

The .cue file has this format:

FILE "FILE.ISO" BINARY
 TRACK 01 MODE3/2048
   INDEX 01 00:00:00

For the record, the volume label is "Patrician III". How should I proceed? The optical drives I have are a LG WH14NS40 and a Plextor PX-755A. In addition, I have Spanish FX Interactive releases of Patrician IV and Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper.

Are there instructions available on how to back up a PS1 game, which is NOT already dumped, using a MacOS computer?

DiscImageCreator (one of the two "official" dumping tools) apparently supports macOS, and apparently so does Redumper (the other "official" tool); however the GUI front-end for both (MPF) is Windows-only. You can find the dumping guide for the CLI version of DiscImageCreator on the wiki, for Redumper the GitHub README page does a good job explaining how to use it. Sadly, dumping CDs usually requires a Plextor drive, which haven't been manufactured for a while already. You can get good results with the supported LG drives if they're not discs with audio tracks nor protected by SafeDisc, at least from my personal experience with PC games, but I don't know how good it can be for PSX discs.

Yes, it's currently being built.

Nice, thanks.

You should know that Redump usually only takes dumps made with DiscImageCreator (DIC). DIC, at least as CDs are concerned, has a somewhat limited compatibility list. The list can be found here, the mentioned Plextor drives are the ones with the highest compatibility, but are also extremely hard to get. You can get decent results with the recommended non-Plextor drives, but you may not be able to dump certain things like, for example, audio CDs. Regarding DVD PC games, any drive will do a fine job.

Just grab the latest firmware from the links here: http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … patibility

Edit: And yes, you can use a USB adapter fine, just make sure it has external power.

Thanks. However, I just plugged it in, and all I get are blinking amber lights. It was too good of an offer, I guess.

Edit: Now works if I use it internally. With the adapter it does not work. I have installed the firmware, and now I'll dump those discs I couldn't dump before.

Can I use it as-is to dump games now, or do I need to install some specific firmware first?

Edit: Another question, can I use it with a SATA to USB external adapter?

I would like to request a wiki account to add information about, among other things, Argentine releases that haven't been dumped yet.
