It seems like there is a regression between the February (20220201T112553) and March (20220301T213949) versions of DIC which affects reading the directory record of some DVDs. It is also present in the current version.
https://github.com/saramibreak/DiscImag … issues/133
There seems to be a fault regarding the new /rr argument: https://github.com/saramibreak/DiscImag … issues/117
More dumps with the same hash values also raise the confidence we can have in the correctness of the dump. So it's always worth it in my eyes.
Is there an error with DIC or is it normal to see 0 errors although SecuROM 5 is used on this disc?
https://bayfiles.com/t2C8x919ud/SOLDNER_zip
Multiple dumps produce the same result.
There was a message regarding sectors which lack ECC though, so I guess it would be normal to see no errors for those sectors because they couldn't be checked.
I have been using the Carson MM-300 MicroBrite Plus (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LAX52IQ) for about two weeks now and can recommend it wholeheartedly.
It lets me easily read what my magnifying glass did not let me read before.
The edition field is rather free form, therefore discrepancies often occur.
In my opinion both discs have a wrong edition.
Since both seem to be covermounts (although I can't comprehend Japanese), they should probably just be the "original" edition.
Where did you find reprint? It seems to be worded rather strangely for this site.
But finding such discrepancies or strange editions / names is probably something you will sadly have to live with.
E. g. I recently came across the "BestSeller Series" editions of some Blizzard games and someone entered Diablo II as "BestSeller Series (2nd edition)", although that does not make much sense. There is just one edition of those Bestseller Series titles.
And then there are titles like "Quake III Arena", which is named "Quake III: Arena" in the database.
It would probably cause too much work for you and the responsible moderator, to write a fix request for everything that is unfitting.
They decided to not close the store after all, due to the shitstorm which the announcement caused: https://blog.playstation.com/2021/04/19 … perations/
You could also use the PVD dumper program from this other thread on your bin: http://forum.redump.org/topic/15711/pri … in-python/
I don't know what kind of software the Windows Companion is exactly, but all other titles listed at your first link, match the rules of the FAQ.
FM Towns is a rather special platform, especially the earlier version could be seen as kind of a console. But the person mainly responsible for decisions around FM Towns would have to chime in for a substantiated explanation.
No. Only very special OS discs, like Linux for the Playstation.
Should I dump operating system discs?
No. We are not accepting information about operating system discs unless the disc is used in a console. For example: http://redump.org/disc/15004/ and http://redump.org/disc/12542/.
