Trust me, cloneCD sub is the only sub suitable to get right gaps. Simply post it and me or Fireball will tell you the right pregaps.
We already checked many cdtool subs and they are not suitable for our dumps.
Relative positions in Q channel has nothing to do with gap lenght, the lenght is determined by INDEX00 lenght and nothing else. I read your post on CDFreaks, I found similar kind of subs taken also with cdtool and if you check them better you'll find a missing sector that is exchanged with the double one so the lenght is the same. Normally these are bad taken subs (no right option in CloneCD, you have to read both data and audio subcodes without error correction) or simply best ones when cd has mastering errors.

Please post .sub taken only with cloneCD, it's the only way to verify real pregaps.
If you got errors while checking offset you have to try another drive and if possible (if you have a drive that support read command) use px_d8

Nobody said it's garbage... by the way ghost made a lot of confusion.
If track01 is 105762 sec, those sectors (105915 and 105935) are part of track02 and are not in pregap so it can be dumped without any problem.

Track01 is data, track02 is audio ---> you cannot simply move those sectors.
If track02 pregap has some data it has to be preserved but in format mode of track02, so sectors with this bytes has to be scrambled. There's a tool around which help you to dump all disc in audio mode and then descramble data tracks (obviously every sector belonging to audio track will stay scrambled).

Re: Need help with single audio track cds (15 replies, posted in General discussion)
Rocknroms it's not psx game its pc so I cant use that tool. However I made a progress.
The command I wrote above has nothing to do with PSX, it simply creates a 2 sec 0x00 pregap, then you can merge it with no pregap track.
In the sector view of isobuster i chose track02 and moving forward this time in sector 105915 I see this in the middle of nowhere
Everything on CD has to be preserved.

Re: Need help with single audio track cds (15 replies, posted in General discussion)
You have to add 2 sec pregap manually as described in my faq.
psxt001z --gen 352800 pregap.bin
copy /b pregap.bin+track02.bin new_track02.bin
I know this is not yet in the main faq.

By the way take care that this is usefull only if you want to recover / collect dumps, it's not suitable to submit dumps (they must come from original discs).

Re: Wii / Gamecube dumps, please verify this... (40 replies, posted in General discussion)
The chip is probably the reason it's failing. I've only heard of cIOS rev 14 and Wasabi and CycloWiz modchips causing it to fail at 99%. Apparently you can disable the chip temporarily and it'll work fine. I'm not sure there's really any need for Wii modchips these days anyway.
I read that msg on gbatemp, but it seems quite absurd to me that a chip blocks last sector reading, there's no proof of this. Disabling the chip means removing it and as you said nobody really showed it works without chip. It could be more cause on some drives revision.

Re: GameCube game list with dump status (USA/Europe/Japan) (38 replies, posted in General discussion)
One sure missing from the list is "Viewtiful Joe Revival" that is the Japan release of USA version as first Jap release is different (like a director's cut). And for sure
Jikkyou Powerful Major League
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 9
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 9: Ketteiban
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 10
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 10: Chou Ketteiban
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 11
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 11: Chou Ketteiban
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 12
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 12: Ketteiban
"Disney Sports Football" US <---> "Disney Sports American Football" Japan this is missing at all from the list.
If you want to update take a look at missing ones on http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/, it will be good to check everything even with revisions.

Re: Wii / Gamecube dumps, please verify this... (40 replies, posted in General discussion)
I made some tries with Superdump.
NGC are dumped without any problem in 10 min and match other dumps without errors.
Indeed I cannot got any good result on Wii discs: I tried both Superdump 1.2 and 1.3 with all possible revisions of IOS249 (rev 12,13,13b,14) and I always get read error on last sector stopping it at 99%. I read around that many people got this problem even with lower than rev14 but anybody got a resonable reply. The only hint I found is that it could be cause of my chip (Wasabi v3, I also updated firmware but nothing changed), so if there's no other solution and because it seems it's not necessary anymore I'm thinking about removing it.
If anyone has a solution please tell me, otherwise we have to find also a list of chips that are not compatible with Superdump.

Rocknroms wrote:3) Wiikey dump disc (more info are needed).
I was using this disc (Wiikey dvddumper v0.8) for GC discs on my chip-modded GameCube and the results were always matching LG-Drive method, so probably it will be same for GC/Wii discs on Wii console.
This method also requires a chip-mod, and like You, I try to avoid any soft-mods on my consoles where I am playing on.
Now that I remember I hope it's not the tool you suggested to tossEAC because he got a lot of wrong checksums, probably it's suitable only with a certain mod or chip or (I don't know) there is a bugged version.

I have to take a look at some log of bad dumps I got, but normally this msg says the dump is good without errors (but exceptions from my guide).
Nope, this msg says all the tracks were read (without serious read errors), but this doesn't mean the rip was perfect and without c2 errors.
As I said I had to check my old logs and yes if you got c2 errors you may have a bad or good dump either. Real errors are showed in last dumping screen / window when PR says if you got a perfect rip track by track, if you got no warning here dump is good (with all the known exceptions).
ghost, some discs might have problems with PR and you have to dump tracks one by one or simply only audio alone (you need to add pregap to first audio track in this situation, PR will create pregap only for following tracks so the first one will have no pregap. Indeed if you dump track by track it will create pregap for the following one that you have to merge).
I repeat did you get same results as EAC or checksums are different? If you got same results there's no problem, as I said in my guide it's always better to dump once with PR and once with EAC to check any possible error.

Did checksums match? If yes and if you got no errors in the final window everything is ok.

Great job, bsbt.
As soon as I have time and will we can mark dumped other Japanese titles, by the way it's better to check again the Jap list: some titles are already dumped (see the 2 Zatch bell = Konjiki no Gashbell) and probably something could be missing (the better Jap site reports a total of 308 games with 33 doubles, so a total of 275 original games - http://homepage2.nifty.com/gamedatabase … _top.html)

Re: - SEGA SATURN & MEGA-CD Dumping Guide - (updated 28-11-2010) (24 replies, posted in General discussion)
This is the most accurate guide for SS/MCD but you can use it for PC games too.
Try dump games at max speed and check if all option are set right; if you still got c2 errors in the log (a c2 file is always created so it's not a problem if you got only this), dump tracks with errors alone or try to dump them with EAC and then compare them. If you got same result and your disc has no scratch you dump is the best avaible unless you made other mistakes.
And whats the difference of the "combined write offset" & "combined read+write offset"?
This is the same thing ---> the offset you got with px_d8 or old method = drive read offset + disc write offset.
My drive has +98 so I allways put -98 in perfectrip?
If +98 is your drive read offset you have to add the disc write offset. Then yes in PerfectRip you have to put the negative value (or positive if your combined offset is negative).

Re: Wii / Gamecube dumps, please verify this... (40 replies, posted in General discussion)
Rocknroms, do you mean redumping some of these with WiiDump 1.5.1 (to SD card, of course)?
I already did that for "Cabela's Trophy Bucks" when I realized it didn't match the scene release. Results were identical. I think that's the only one in your list that I dumped with both Superdump and WiiDump (according to my notes).
Another game that didn't match the scene release was "Need for Speed: ProStreet". For that one, I had access to 2 discs, so I dumped both with Superdump and got identical results.
By the way, Superdump correctly aborts the dumping when there is a read error, like when a disc is scratched. It's frustrating when that happens, but it's nice to have proof that the error checking is there.
Yes, I mean redumping with WiiDump and Superdump.
I think it's enough.
About post linked by iR0b0t: I read it when it was posted but I have to find time to update my modded wii to new configurations, infos around are always a great mess and I try to avoid wanikokos tools on Wii.
I'll make some test on my own and then I will provide a guide.
To begin, here are the confirmed dumping tools and methods:
1) Rawdump (if you want also Friidump, but it's slower) with a supported LG drive.
2) Superdump with a modded (also softmodded?) Wii.
3) Wiikey dump disc (more info are needed).
About GC I think that old method is obsolete.

I just dumped Rockband 2 and Wii Sports Resort today, this will hopefully clear things up.
Moreover, I see your dump of Wii Sports Resort matches scene release. So please check what I asked in previous post then I can add Superdump as confirmed tool in faq and confirm your "suspicious" dumps as good.

I just dumped Rockband 2 and Wii Sports Resort today, this will hopefully clear things up. I will be adding them shortly. All my dumps are done using Superdump, as I mentioned in my first Wii dump post:
http://forum.redump.org/topic/4773/adde … -usa-v101/
I encourage people to redump my dumps which didn't match the scene releases. I'm pretty confident in them though, as my methods/hardware/software have been the same for my 200+ Wii dumps. We can't say the same for the scene releases.
Thanks!
When you have time please try to redump a pair of the ones I questioned also with the other slower tool just to check if you got same results.
Havikoro, we need the proof that Superdump gives always same result as Rawdump to say it's a good tool. At least it's not wireless, so at 99% there should be no loss of data.

Re: Wii / Gamecube dumps, please verify this... (40 replies, posted in General discussion)
Havikoro...
1) If bsbt's dumps are made via Rawdump/Friidump the discussion is closed: dumps in DB are right and scene are bad (except Haldrie's one).
2) Indeed if those dumps are made like Haldrie's one they have to be checked because I don't find any info around telling the same scene releases are bad / nuked.
I was pointing at Wii OneUp PROPER releases simply because those are the questioning dumps and nothing else.
Quite a year ago I had to help another dumper to redump about 10 Gamecube games because he used the wrong tool.
About a new guide for Gamecube / Wii dumping: I wanted to make it but I always used Rawdump and anything else so I cannot confirm if any other method is good or bad. If you (or anyone else) have tested other tools and can confirm if something else is suitable, write it down here and I'll make a new guide as soon as possible.
Please post here your experiences with any tool.
PS: However I don't think any wireless method could be good

Essentially all the ones released as PROPER by OneUp, because they are our dumps.
