I am still not sure if it's going to be useful, but anyway, you can now follow @redump in Twitter.

The ability to view all pages has been readded. By the way, you can use quick search to search by serial number.

  • Added XML datfile reading to New disc and Edit disc pages.

I've just asked Demul team about the issue and they said they will add support for whitespaces in filenames.

I was told that nullGDR_Win32 plugin reads filenames with whitespaces correctly, that's why I have added full names to GDI generator.

Datfile generator has been rewritten. Now it uses caching to prevent such errors from happening and outputs xml dats.

"Disc 0 of 4" would look quite strange, but as we don't write total discs number to the filename, any custom numbering scheme can be used.

Redump can actually generate SBI files with CRC-16 (and without extra header), just replace "sbi" with "lsd", for example: http://redump.org/disc/2371/lsd/
The format of the file is simple: 3 bytes for MSF and 12 bytes for Q-channel data.

I've uploaded all images, psxt001z and dctools to Redump server. dremora.com will probably be down for some time. Anyway, it's better to keep everything in one place smile

1. what is the logic behind current assignation of serials to Japanese titles?

Internal serials + disc/box serials.

themabus wrote:

2. why are serials relevant at all in .dat file?

I have always been against serials in dat files, so switching to the No-Intro naming convention seems to be a nice idea for me smile

themabus wrote:

3. what is the purpose of .dat?

Dat files do not have to contain all the information from the db. Their only purpose is to identify dump, so any information which doesn't participate in making filenames unique is redundant in dat.

Sectors with mode=0x02 don't have any info about current MSF, track or index numbers (only EAN and CRC-16), so if such sector appears between track n and track n+1, it can be considered by the software as belonging to either of the two tracks. The real sector where the new track starts should be the last one with zeroes in channel P (pause) for the most of the discs.

As you may have noticed, the site hasn't been working for a few days. Unfortunately this is due to a HDD crash, which has happened on an Sunday evening. Currently we are moving to the new hosting (yes, no more downtime and slowdowns — thanks TeeCee & DaveH), but it will take some time to restore all the info (not everything was backed up properly). Thank you for your patience!

Update: forum is back!

I have at least 3 games with bonus audio CD, are they needed and how I have to dump them?

Well, although some may disagree, I thinkk that each bonus Audio CD is part of the game and should be dumped too.

Rocknroms wrote:

Pregap of first track is 2.00+0.37. How can I find offset, if there's one?

There is no way to detect an offset if disc has no data tracks, so they should with 0 write offset.

Rocknroms wrote:

And file format: pcm as games or wav?

PCM.

1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) For non-clrmame checking you can use MD5/SFV files. As for renaming, have you tried romcenter?

Expect a new parser soon.

Are you using the latest ClrMame version which generates new XML dats? If so, you should wait until I write a new datfile parser or post data in the forum.

In comments. If there are two versions of the game for different systems, OS should be also put in version field.

I think prototypes should be preserved (No-Intro does preserve them).

I think using No-Intro convention is ok (if the filename isn't too long, of course).
