By the way, anybody shown interest in dumping Neo Geo CD discs?
Most of them have a subchannel-based protection, some magic dumping tool from Dremora is needed 
Looks like the same code is responsible for both scrambling and descrambling procedures. I.e. scrambling the already scrambling data leads to its descrambling and vice-versa. So, I've taken the scrambled dump and descrambled it via the tool. Its contents will be inverted during the burning, which will result in a true 1:1 copy.

Sector 192819 may be showing as unscrambled because it comes just before a real audio track and the drive may be picking up on this and choosing to give you the unscrambled sector. This is only my theory though and I don't exactly have anything to back it up.
Nope, all the regular CDs don't have this issue and even the very last sector is shown scrambled on them, as it should. About this CD -- same result with the NEC drive and swap disc, same result with Plextor and D8. Btw, none of the programs (CloneCD, Alcohol 120%, etc.) can even find the 00 index for the 2nd audiotrack (subs are fine, nothing unusual).
(if you try to burn it, the last sector will be scrambled and the copy will differ), we need to dump all the CDs without descrambling to keep such things.
I mean, the structure of this CD can't be properly preserved under the current dumping methods, I haven't said it can't be dumped at all.
PR can't dump them properly, the only way is to dump the entire disc with cdtoimg and cut the 2nd track from this image, anything other is a bad dump.

The sector #192818 is corrupted (half-zeroed), descrambled one is also errorneous. The sector #192819 isn't scrambled at all, it's written on the CD in its unscrambled form.
This CD can't be dumped properly under the current methods (if you try to burn it, the last sector will be scrambled and the copy will differ), we need to dump all the CDs without descrambling to keep such things.
Check the first few sectors of Track02 PR's dump - should be data, similar to px_d8 output.

Why not to use PR dump only? I'm not sure about moving the sectors, looks like the 2nd track pregap contains some data sectors here, if so - they should be scrambled, you can't retrieve the proper pregap from isobuster's dump of the first track, then. You need to extract the track manually after dumping the whole CD with cdtoimg (dumps all the sectors in scrambled mode). According to the subs, 257871 is the last data sector, so the data track should be 257872 sectors long, or 606,514,944 bytes. Sectors 257872 and 257873 contain data, according to your previous copypastes, but they belong to the audiotrack, according to the subs.
Weird, 257872 shouldn't have any synchro. Try to check 257873, 257874, etc. - until you find a sector without "00FFFF..." inside.
Btw, the gap is 00:02:01, according to the subs.

So, 257870, 257871, 257872 as LBA sector, should give you different results. Should look like this: "px_d8.exe F: 257870" (change the F: letter to the letter of your drive).
Could you take the original px_d8 (not Dremora's one) and copypaste the contents of sectors 257870, 257871, 257872 here, please?

F1ReB4LL, if you can calculate the last used data sector + add the postgap, you will see that there exactly 151 sectors pregap for "Gale Racer" and 152 sectors pregap for "Gunbird" Track02, and that without any sub analysis !!!
It's wa-ay easier to look into subs than counting all those LBAs.

First of all, you should check the real gap size in the subs (at least, dump the CD with CloneCD and look into its generated .cue). Then, you should look manually at the gap to check, if it's really consist of zeroes. The gap in this case can be not only 00:02:00, it can be 00:01:74, so you shouldn't just always add 2 secs of silence.

It's not the best way, especially if there are data sectors in pregap due to a mastering error (see Gale Racer or Gunbird). I'm sure there's enough potentially bad PSX dumps already due to this logic and I want to preserve the Saturn section from such dumps with 'assumed' gaps.

Only by subs. You can try to use CloneCD, though, it usually detects the gaps properly in this case.
If these dumps are obtained from non-original media - then there must be a certain way we can detect these aside from relying on multiple user submissions?
I was just wondering if anyone here has ever considered creating/extending a database to catalogue game package contents, manual/cover versions etc? Not for the purpose of replacement documents, but solely to record existing versions.
It's hard to figure out what originally came with a game and it will just get harder as time goes by so I think such a database would be helpful.

I'd say we should be closer to http://www.softpres.org/ - they dump disks _and_ scan all the papers.
In that case EAC's default and everyone that rips audio CDs with the default settings have it wrong.
It's not a EAC's issue, it's a general PC drives firmware issue. That's why they read the first data track and 2nd audio track's pregap together.
Hmm, there is at least one more similar case - Sharks! CD32, it's a homebrew/unofficial game, which was sold on CD-Rs, contains thousands of errors on CDDA tracks due to incorrect mastering/burning (dunno, whether it was made intentional or not).
Pregap belongs to the next track according to the sub and Red Book standards.
You can also try to work there Or find a friend, who works in such place.
