I've actually written a nice FAQ a few weeks ago, then passed it to Dremora to check/complete it, so try to nag him a little, otherwise, he will never complete it smile

It's an important question. Console CDs can also be multisessional, for example, Atari Jaguar games and Dreamcast MIL CDs.

I just don't get it. Ki Suishou vs Kisuishou (Densetsu Astal) -- ok, Ki and Suishou are different words. But why Daisenryaku and not Daisen Ryaku (World Advanced Daisenryaku) -- those are 2 different words, too. Or Ushinawareta instead of Ushina Wareta (Vandal Hearts: Ushinawareta Kodai Bunmei) -- those are also 2 different words. How to determine, whether 2 words should be splitted or not?

Better dump each of the first 2 datatracks as a sector range in isobuster. Subs are here, so it's easy to tell the proper ranges for the each one.

Half were at least dumped, but could be checked within bin-cues/etc. around.

They are always bad (CDRWin issue?). Girl Doll Toy #0601 release by Darkwater -- 00:03:00 instead of 00:06:00; same for dozens of VFCG Vol.04: Pai Chan dumps floating around, so I don't believe them.

Yes, but normally is 3.00, or not?

More dumps needed to figure it out.

Then I have used these commands to fix the gaps

"remove -size=150sec track01.bin trash.bin"
"psxt001z --gen pregap.bin 352800"
"copy /b pregap.bin+track02.bin new_track02.bin"

Heey, you can't do this, the gap between the datatracks isn't empty, you must dump it, not generate.

dumper wrote:

I am not very sure, because this website says:
www.toseciso.org/details.php?id=1575  -  scroll down

Track    Gap
01    00:02:00  -  Data Track
02    00:03:00  -  Data Track
03    00:02:00  -  Audio Track
04    00:02:00  -  Audio Track
Etc    00:02:00  -  Audio Track

This what I think is right after fixing the gaps:

Track    Gap
01    00:00:00  -  Data Track
02    00:02:00  -  Data Track
03    00:02:00  -  Audio Track
04    00:02:00  -  Audio Track
Etc    00:02:00  -  Audio Track

What's about the ringcode? Maybe there were different pressings?

Normally gaps between the 2 data tracks is 3.00 (but could be also 2.00 or 4.00), 1 sector of mode1/2352 and 2 sectors of mode2/2352; take a sub and post it so we can check.

Gaps can be any, http://redump.org/disc/5255/ -- 6.00, http://redump.org/disc/3283/ -- 8.00.

I have Gunbird. About Whizz - judged from your original sub. Original entries are preserved, so there's nothing fatal, I can switch them at any moment, if you give me enough proof.

It's been there for ages, I'm surprised you haven't heard about it earlier. Dunno about the changes, though.

Worth for preserving bonus DVDs packed with games, but only them. Regular DVDs won't be added into this database (but there could be a standalone project, if people are interested).

Why not to make XOR optional, so it will be possible to use non-libcrypt .sbi files for input?

1,540

(26 replies, posted in General discussion)

Usage:  sbi2sub file.cue file.sbi XOR [file.dat]

Where:  XOR is either $0080 or $8001

Example:
        sbi2sub Game.cue Game.sbi $8001
        sbi2sub Game.cue Game.sbi $0080 PSX.dat

What's that?

CRCs are unneeded for ingame libcrypt validation, only MSFs and AMSFs are important.

Why not? IMO, they should be typed with all the spaces and other letters (like the triangle brackets), it's not that hard to type them all.

What is missing for actual preservation is the attached metadata with more information. This is currently implemented on the redump.org website in a limited way. Ideally this data should be included with the binary copies that were migrated and should be replicated.

I guess, it would be better to include all the metadata in the dat.

Cues can also be downloaded from the site, but you can get them from your own CDs as well. You can't get the same sbi files from the CDs, though, so it's totally useless to include them into the dats - you can download them from the site, you can download them elsewere, you can dump them from your own CDs, they will be different every time, but they will work (most likely).

Have you found a way to dump subchannels correctly? smile

1,546

(26 replies, posted in General discussion)

Nope, because you won't be able to read them from the CD again with the same checksum, so the checksums for these files are useless.

Instead it will be a great and good thing that some owners of Naomi gdroms will dump them the same way we dump DC gdroms.

And what's the point of this?

Do you have them? I've read on segaxtreme, that KD01 and KD02 won't work on a non-dev console.

Oh smile My drive actually refuses to read the audio pregap as a part of the datatrack, so I don't have such a problem and kinda forgot about it smile Anyway, simply padding everything with zeroes isn't a very good idea, imo.
