You'll have to scrap that idea, the discs can't be read, it just comes up with sector errors. The discs do look weird on the underside, they sort of remind me of the old vinyl albums with like gaps in between the information. Anyway it was worth a try.

Do you want me to dump my Swap Magic 3+ Coder version 3.8 discs?

Before creating a .dat, make sure the field under "Dat-File" is properly filled.  It won't prompt you after hitting the button like usual proggies do.  Once it's filled, you should be able to "Create" a .dat.

Then open that .dat file with notepad and copy/paste the hashes if needed.  If you are dealing with a single .iso file, then this is pretty much not necessary since using a simple tool like "HashCalc" can do it faster with a single drag & drop of the file.  Clrmame's dir2dat function is cool when dealing with multi-track discs.

What do i put type in the dat file box? the name of the game or something? I've never done this before smile

The problem is the jackal said "when the .dat is created" but he never told me how to create the dat? I point clrmame to the folder with the iso in, then what do I do? click create? I did that but nothing happens so what do I need to do to create this dat, what do I press? and will it save a dat somewhere? will i have to tell it where to put it?

Need a lil help with the new disc thing. I've installed clrmame. I've followed these instructions,
just start clrmame, go to the 'dir2dat' tab and uncheck everything except 'Add MD5' and 'Add SHA1'(Done that),
then point it to the folder containing the dump, (I've clicked on the Source Folder under input and output and pointed it to my folder with the iso in)
and when the .dat is created, ( I assume I needed to click the create button? I did and it did nothing? I must be missing something)
copy the line with the .iso info and paste it in the new disc field (Haven't got this far yet smile )

Just remember I don't know what I'm doing so don't expect me to have clicked on anything else if it wasn't mentioned in the above stuff. I have no clue how to use this program smile

Hi guys, just wondered if when dumping a disc, does it read from the outside in or the inside out or neither? Just so i can work out on the disc where the problem scratch is so i can remove it. Thanks in advance smile

Edit:  Thanks guys that's very helpful smile

Its took me 4 hours getting a disc to work, i fought it sector by sector and it has some pretty deep scratches but to look at it now you wouldn't think the scratches had been there. I must of polished it about 50 times but in isobuster now it say's the disc is in good working order doing a surface scan. So even if your disc is pretty scratched and giving errors you can get it to work again using a bit of elbow greese and patients. I've done 5 discs now and all 5 are working flawlessly so stick at it. I'm using brasso with the wadding and one of them yellow soft cloths. Apparently T-cut works aswell but Brasso is the best and it's cheaper.

Oh and if you've got a caravan with plastic windows you can use it to remove the scratches. My friend told me that today.

Yay, managed to win the battle. It's taken me 4 hours to get my disc working with brasso, it was pretty scratched and now there are no scratches. It was pretty hard work and I soooooo nearly just binned it, coz I can just take it back to the shop and swap it for something else but atleast it's been a challenge smile

A quick question. When reading discs with isobuster will a disc fail on the exact same sector each time for example -
My disc failed on sector 1634992 then after some gentle polishing it failed on sector 1635536 then on sector 1635920 then 1636160 then 1636336 then 1636960 so would all these be at the same point of the disc or is it exact every time? am I winning the battle all be it a sector at a time? coz if I am I'll carry on fighting the scratches until I prevail, lol. I hate losing so I've been trying to rescue this disc all night so I just want to know if I'm winning or is it failing at the same point of the disc  smile

Oh and any idea where about on the disc these sectors are? I'm thinking they're right on the outside at a guess, does anyone know?

I'll sort out Logmein in the next fews days once my downloads are finished coz I need to reboot to install it then I'll pm you the details iR0b0t to log into my pc. It'll take you seconds to do, where it would probably take me hours and I'd still cock it up smile

Here's a pic of the garbage. You know if you want you could always log into my pc via logmein to dump this disc if you want?

Hello m8, listen, I've given up on doing multi track discs it's waaaay over my head and tbh it takes quite a bit of messing and I'll only end up stuffing it all up so I'm sorry to say but I'm sticking with dumping single track games and leaving it to the experts and besides I'm really busy anyway without needing extra time to do these. It's took me 2 hours just to fail  smile

Oh my, I'm trying to dump my first PS2 game with 2 tracks by watching the tutorial but I'm stuck at the first hurdle. I've counted back to find the garbage and I have 21 lines of garbage, How many bytes is 1 line of garbage?  Maths was not my strong point at school. My school report read "We've never seen him in class yet", lol. So expect a few/aload more questions in this thread. Once I've done one I'll master it. Thx for the help:)
