@pnkiller78, I noticed that your Quake II dump with 2352 offset is identical to this dump - http://redump.org/disc/2511/ only your dump has a smaller Track02 gap and 2352 offset.. One of the 2 dumps has to be wrong, I think they should both match.

A 2352 write offset is very unlikely.. I think that the gap should be 1 sector bigger and the offset 1 sector smaller, but I'm not sure why your drives are detecting it wrongly (did you dump this disc using PerfectRip, have you verified the gaps on multiple drives?)

I hope you can recheck the offset using px_d8 and cdtool, and be sure to disable subchannel reading in both tools so that the sector offset will be correct (I hope you read the post last week where I explained that older plextor drives have a bug when, if reading sectors with subchannels enabled, the data that you see is moved to another sector.)

Can you try dumping it with the Plextor and PerfectRip? Out of them all, I'd trust the Plextor gap the most... maybe PerfectRip can confirm results

Ok, after adding track1+2 sizes of both dumps there is a difference, so I guess it's a different region version anyway, but I still think the pnkiller's 2352 offset and gap length are strange and I think all audio tracks should match on both versions..

gigadeath: There is a protection in the installer, it detects the language set in the operating system and blocks the installation, it's easily bypassable by setting the language in Regional Options to Portuguese or Spanish
I remember trying to dump it Perfectrip and got some errors.
I dumped this game a while ago, I was just waiting for Brazil region to submit it.

On most cases I also trust more my Plextor, but in this case (3x1) I think it's wrong.

My calculation was =[(7.5*16)/4]-(-4*588)-(30)=2352, my drive is a Plextor PX-760A, this is the screenshoot from CDReader showing 4 sectors behind gap with no subs.

Also, the offset was calculated with the old method and also gave the same results, Gaps were detected on 4 drives using EAC, 3 of them gave me the same result (Plextor PX-760A, LG GDR8164B, LG GSA-4082N) and 1 drive (LiteOn SOHW-1633S) gave 1 sector difference (1.74) on first track, LiteOn LTN-323 doesn't support Method A gap detection on EAC, so it was left behind.

I went with the 1.73 pregap from the 3 drives to calculate offset using ISOBuster method.
I calculated the disc offset on 3 drives using ISOBuster method (Plextor PX-760A, LG GDR8164B & LiteOn LTN-323) and the disc offset gave me the same result, see the screenshots showing the garbage data.

So definitively I think that the offset is right and the gap are OK... although I'm open to suggestions..

Just dump it in perfectrip with the plextor.. if that will give you matching checksums with +1176 and 1.73 gap then it should be ok.. smile

Yes. There's some option you have to adjust, did you read the guide?

For example combined read/write offset has to be inserted with +/- inverted

So if you dump with +56 in EAC you have to put -56 in PerfectRip

pnkiller78 were you able to overread into the Lead out with your LG drives? I always get a sync error at ~99.9% of track 11 with my NEC and my LG, the Plextor and Pioneer read without a problem but the CRC doesnt match yours. If I turn off overread they work ok.

No, perfectrip never matches any checksum (not for this game or any other that I have tested) and I use the same offset that I use in EAC but with the - sign.

And yes, I can get a 1.73 pregap in EAC using my plextor.

As I said before, I can match tracks 2-10 with pnkiller78's. But when ripping track 11 I have 2 different results:
1) I can overread into the leadout with my Plextor and Pioneer and get the same CRC but it's different from pnkiller78's
2) I can't overread into the leadout with my LG and NEC, both always give me a sync error

Finally I want to know how much do I have to remove from the data track, is it just the 1.73 pregap or the fact that there's a 2 sector correction has some influence?

sorry for the delay.. the last track I dumped with my LiteOn LTN323 -1164 Drive offset... since the disc had a big positive offset, i give it a try with this drive and in fact it got info after the position were my other drives was throwing just zeros, dumped 3 times, so since the drive didn't show errors on EAC I decided to post the info for the last track dumped with the liteon drive.

Yes, my LG and plextor drive do overread in the lead-out, but I'm presuming that since these game has huge positives offset, the overread is not enough, with both drives the hashes matched, but comparing against the dump obtained with the LiteOn drive they star showing zeros in the last portion of the dump were the liteon dump showed data.

I'm not sure how many sectors need to be removed.. I hope someone else knows this.. And I hope you can compare the last track to pnkiller's.. maybe one of them is cut off.

I don't know right now, I will dump the entire disk into a bin file and apply the psxt001z track method to obtain your checksums, then will compare against mines and tell you the offset difference.. I post them later

I removed just the 1.73 pregap, if you hexedit the track, and backtrack the pregap length (1.73 - 148 sectors - 348096 bytes) from the end of the track, you will see the garbage data, 1 byte more and you will see the last sector, sync data, ecc headers, etc. just remove the pregap and you will have your track 1
