strange, running the same emu it only detects English for me.

what bios did you use? the build-in or custom one? which one?

there is no built-in bios actually, or did you mean the 'no bios' feature?
i used a pal bios of course. Sega Saturn v1.01a (1995)(Sega)(EU) from Sega Saturn - BIOS (TOSEC-v2009-02-15) with SSF 0.09 Beta R3, to be exactly.

i set the system language to 'german' on first console bootup and inserted the disc.
