Hello!  This thread is a dedicated thread for questions regarding which optical disc drives are compatible for dumping CDs to redump specifications.

The most up-to-date list of which drives are eligible, can be found on the wiki: http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … bility:_CD

The "New Dump & Verification Submissions" section includes drives that are confirmed eligible for both new discs and verifications.

The "Verification Submissions Only" section includes drives that are eligible for verifications, but not yet for new discs.  Over time and with continued testing and research, more drives may become eligible for new discs.  Please check the wiki page for the most current list.

As stated on the wiki, please remember, You must update the drives to the Required Firmware version and dump using Redumper build 610 or later (supported by MPF 3.3.2 or later).

If you have any questions about the updated lists, or whether your drive is eligible, please ask them here.  Thanks!

Q: I have an Asus / LG drive that is a JB8/JB9 drive and is eligible for cross-flashing to the custom ASUS BW-16D1HT firmware made by Ribshark.  Is this eligible for new discs?

A: YES.  For all intents and purposes, these drives (once flashed with the custom firmware) act just as the Asus BW-16D1HT eligible drives, and are thus eligible for new discs and verifications.  More information is found here: http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … al_Details

Q: Are verifications (not new discs) of non-Audio CDs using DiscImageCreator and a good non-Plextor drive still allowed?

A: Verifications of non-audio CDs using DIC are only accepted if done with a known eligible Plextor drive.  Redumper (build 610 or later) is required for all other drives.  Redumper is still preferred and encouraged in all cases.

Q: The change in rules means that verifications of audio CDs are no longer restricted to good Plextor drives? Using only Redumper, of course.

A: Yes, Audio CDs can be verified with eligible non-plextor drives (as listed on the wiki: http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … bility:_CD), if using Redumper build 610 or later.

I only have two questions:

1. Are verifications (not new discs) of non-Audio CDs using DiscImageCreator and a good non-Plextor drive still allowed?
2. The change in rules means that verifications of audio CDs are no longer restricted to good Plextor drives? Using only Redumper, of course.

Hello.  To answer your questions:

1. Are verifications (not new discs) of non-Audio CDs using DiscImageCreator and a good non-Plextor drive still allowed?

Verifications of non-audio CDs using DIC are only accepted if done with a known eligible Plextor drive.  Redumper (build 610 or later) is required for all other drives.  Redumper is still preferred and encouraged in all cases.

2. The change in rules means that verifications of audio CDs are no longer restricted to good Plextor drives? Using only Redumper, of course.

Yes, Audio CDs can be verified with eligible non-plextor drives (as listed on the wiki: http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= … bility:_CD), if using Redumper build 610 or later.

Understood.
