I was looking to buy either a PX-755UF or a PX-W5224TA and, when comparing the two on this wiki page, I noticed the latter's entry mentions support for these protection schemes and the former's entry does not include any additional info.

Or, in general, are there any reasons why it would be better to purchase one over the other? (the interface isn't an issue for me on either drive).

Yes, both of them can dump SecuROM and SafeDisc. Compatible ASUS and LG drives are nice as well and can dump with them.
