http://redump.org/disc/1208/

another ecc issue with dump from emuLOAD found :)

cdmage:

Track #| Sector|Sync|Header|Subheader|EDC|Intermediate|ECC P|ECC Q|Severity|Content of sector
      1|    248| No |  No  |   No    |No |    N/A     | No  | No  |None    |ISO9660: bytes 151552-153599 of the file "\SCES_038.86"

Total error count:1

never yet encountered errors in exe file on good image.. so its most deffinately caused by cd-rom drive

(fixed one is above)

after fix:
crc: 851b946d
md5: f96724e1c4a776b81340660f9853accd
sha-1: 51725845bec565c33ef1d2b3ae76fca4ab056d72

Thx. It would probably be best if someone would check as much unverified images as possible for such errors smile

I'm checking all images i got in my collection, soon i'll post all logs

emuLOAD posted this submission on spring of 2007
he didn't make any patches since ImageDiff was made later that autumn
so where did the image came from?

btw he comments that it wont emulate: http://forum.redump.org/viewtopic.php?id=425
does it now?

tested on pSX 1.13
game starts , displays logo with loading for few moments and thats all, wont go any further

and I don`t remember where I got those images, I think they must must have been on redump tracker when it was working, I found those on dvds burned long time ago.. 2007-05-08 according to file date

You should try Xebra, if pSX does not emulate it:
http://members.at.infoseek.co.jp/DrHell/ps1/index.html

could you try rebuilding ECC instead of repairing content, please?
and test it on emulator

It's an illegal opcode, so I guess it's emu-related..

These 1 or 2 sector errors are a real PITA.. I guess they are bound to occur if you don't verify the game on 2 drives.

i imagined, if developers knew psx hardware very well
for example that it would ignore ECC but most consumer drivers at the time would not (i'm guessing)
they could use it as means of copy protection

I think it's better to hide these discs before they are confirmed from another dump. It's hard to say whether the errors are related to dumping or to mastering.

If there's only 1 or 2 low severity errors then it's definitely not mastering errors. I've had the same kind of errors before and when I redumped them the errors were always gone (I fixed all my dumps with errors last year). So hiding them is useless.

regenerating image in eccregen gave this same checksums as by fixing in cdmage

xebra have this same issue as pSX , stops after loading screen
btw. didnt know about this project, seems interesting

and I think Jackal is right, it depends on cd-rom drive, I've encoutered such issues with my old LG... one time you dump and you have errors, another time errors are gone - drive is trying to read disc so fast that its guessing content instead of reading smile
thats why discs should be dumped at least twice... or on different h/w

however... im my opinion this disc (+FIFA 99 (I) [SLES-01587]) should be somehow marked as "need for redumping", thats the main goal of this project right ? smile to redump stuff until its 100% sure that its correct and then confirm it again... tongue

Everything with a blue dot needs a redump smile
