Rocknroms wrote:PR and d8 command don't work with LG
You have to dump it with EAC with offset correction +1028
Ah, that's what I calculated before - just a bit surprised at an offset of +1028. That means 1028 - 102 = 926 write offset.
Cheers, I'll have to dump it tomorrow now.
Oh, and for anyone who is interested I've just dumped another PS1 game (after nearly 12 months of no dumps from me). It's Tokimeki Memorial - Taisen Puzzle-Dama.
PR gives me and error:
Error reading sector: 004292 (00:57.17)
Sense hex (key/ASC/ASCQ): 03/11/00 - Unrecovered read error
Just an update, px_d8 won't work on my drive I get the following:
Returned SCSI status code: 02 - Check condition
Sense data, key:ASC:ASCQ: 05:64:00
Failure reading drive g
So I guess I can't use PR unless anyone can figure out what to set my main channel offset correction as.
Clicking sector view on Track 02 gives me an LBA of 4443 - EAC reports all tracks have a pregap of 2.00 seconds, so I subtract 150 and go to LBA 4293. IsoBuster then spits out a message saying that the data may be unreliable and that the CD-ROM is returning unexpected data. I choose to ignore and I get the following:

Any ideas? I am reading this on the LH GSA-H55N which is +102.

Plex is preferred, but having both overreads is enough for PR, it works with my external TEAC, for example.
I'll give PR a shot tomorrow, cheers.

I think it's the only example available.
Ah thanks for the info coreano, you've answered my question.
I've come accross a few titles for the Sega Mega CD which have updated 32x versions, or are dedicated only to those who own the 32x. Night Trap is a good example of this as it was released as both a standard Sega CD version and a Sega CD 32x version.
My question is how would these be listed in the Clrmame dat to distinguish between the different versions? In most cases the games title has no mention of 32x - just the printed media/packaging specifies this. I am aware that as far as the redump database listing goes it won't be a problem because of the dirrerent serial/ring code.
I personally think the version number field should contain "32x" that way when cataloging in Clrmame I know which requie the 32x to operate.
Right I'm off to bed. Nite all
Rocknroms -> I'll post the sector views tomorrow since it's on my other computer and my netbook which I'm using now has no CD drive.
F1ReB4LL -> Not sure on compatability of my drive with with Perfectrip - my LG drive can apparently overread into leadin & leadout but would a Plexator be preferential? I have had read issues on some CD's in the past with the last track, depending on the write offset. Unfortunately I don't have a Plexator drive, in which case I am willing to send the CD to someone who does.
On another subject, in the long term I am planning on getting some of undumped titles from eBay and the such (those which are not crazy prices) and want to donate them for dumping to this project. Any volunteers?
Firstly hello everyone, I'm back from real life to assist the preservation project once more.
I have one undumped Mega-CD game "Lethal Enforcers" (T-95015-50), however since it's been a while and previously I have only dumped PSX games I'm having a little difficulty. Firstly, when looking for the write offset in ISOBuster I'm getting it report unexpected data at -150 sectors (this CD has a 2 second pregap on all tracks according to EAC) it shows data on all lines. Going forward 1 sector I get about another 100 lines of full data. I therefore calculate that this gives me a write offset of +1028 on my +102 LG drive. Can anyone confirm if this is normal or am I doing something wrong.
Also, if someone in London or the UK has a Plexator and wants me to post it I can do that. Would like it back tho.
Cheers,
Mike.
If these dumps are obtained from non-original media - then there must be a certain way we can detect these aside from relying on multiple user submissions? Maybe by also submitting raw sector information at known parts of the image where it can be detected? Just an idea...
Oh, and yes I'm back again after a few months away.
Normally the dumps are verified "good" when dump information is provided by two different dumpers. This is probably the best method in discovering different release versions of the same game and/or correcting database submission errors. This should also prevent the user errors. Just on a small note - data read errors will usually always produce a different track checksum with each bad dump you make - this is why we dump the track twice before submitting to rule this out.
However, feel free to redump any titles; and if you notice any errors or ammendments that need to be made to the database entry just submit your findings on the forum.
Decided to order a cheap drive which reads the leadout - LG GSA-H55N (only £13). If anyone else has sync issues on the last track (known issue with audio ripping when you have a drive with positive offset), look for a drive which can over read into the leadout. I found this site useful:
http://www.daefeatures.co.uk/search.php
What does the accurterip list show your drive offset as? It could just be the offset is too low.
I have tried 3 different drives (BTC +6, Samsung +12, NEC +48) and all seem to cause issues reading the leadout on the last audio track on most discs - causing suspiscious positions/sync errors. Is there any real solution to this problem or do I need a drive that can read into the leadout?
ack, nrl_quaker beat me to it.
There is a pregap and Isobuster should find it if you go back -150 sectors from the start of track 2. If you still get all 0000's, try another drive since not all drives can correctly read raw audio (my >1 year-old Lite-ON couldn't).
OK nrl_quaker I will take this into account. Thanks.
Dump pending for a few days - busy with "real life™" & work. Got a few more dumps in the pipeline - coming soon to redump.org.
Update: Waiting for new drive to rip last track properly.
Going to dump Densha de Go! 2 (J)
http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php? … mp;thumb=4
But the spine names "Densha" the romaji translation of train as "Densya" (See below)
http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php? … mp;thumb=4
Which shall I submit it as when I post dunp info?
Thanks for the help themabus - I've dumped this and posted the details in the "dumps" topic.
Jackal wrote:When you obtain dumper status you can use the 'New Disc' function which has exactly that
Hopefully I will obtain "dumper" status soon - I wasn't aware that it could be that easy to post dump info
Many of you guys have probably seen me around the forums - I have been hanging around on the forum for the past couple of weeks...
I have a fairly large PlayStation collection - in which a good selection of titles I own are currently "undumped". I have been looking for some sort of Goodxxx/TOSEC/No-Intro/etc project focusing on PS-1 for probably a year now - and stumbled on here by accident when looking for a track CRC-32 for a game I dumped in which I was going to patch. I still believe it's early days and in time the project will attract more interest.
I have a fair amount of experience in media backup but not preservation (yes there's a difference), but seem to feel a little uneasy becoming a dumper since I'm new and worry about not filling all the information requirements expected from the dumped image.
Therefore, maybe if we could have some sort of "form" with fields that the user could complete it might encourage more people to contribute dump info - or some sort of standard layout that needs to be followed when submitting release info to the forum (everyone seems to have their own ways and whether they include reports such as LC1/LC2 info and/or EAC/psxt001z logs).
Update:
Track 01 has 298664 sectors according to IsoBuster & psxt001z. However psxt001z "fixes" the sync & header on sectors 298514 -> 298663
I have dumped Track 01 3 times and tested the CRC-32 for consistency (ruling out bad read) before running it through psxt001z - which still spits out the above.
Damn Konami like making it difficult for me
Attempting to dump this title mentioned above (2 Tracks), although I'm just a little curious as to why Track 02 has no pregap on Detection Method A. Tested in both a Samsung SD-616Q (+12) & Lite-ON iHAS120 (+6) both report the same information.
Method B says 0:00:01.67 on the Lite-ON & 0:00:05.65 on the Samsung.
Method C crashes.
Track 2 is some sort of bonus CD-A track with some talking and a little music totaling 0:04:13.72
I'm still fairly inexperienced at the "redump way" but I'm fairly sure that there should be some sort of gap for compatibility reasons to space data from audio. All help appreciated as I wanna get the grasp of this so I can start ripping the rest of the Tokimeki games.
Bug - After dumping - push R and type 2 to remove the 2 second pregap from track 1. Then when back at the menu push R again but leave the field for the seconds removed empty (just push return). It will remove another 2 seconds from the image!
This will also cause PSXTools to also spit out a ton of EDC/ECC sector errors!
I only asked this question out of curiousity (since I'm new and all). Ideally I just wanted the SBI's available with the dump in the archive when I run it through Clrmame - only so I have them locally if needed for emulation and because they relate to the modified subchannel data of the original disc.
I was just wondering - is there any plans to include the SBI subchannel files in the dat for each game/disc?
Many thanks.
