hmm if NullDC plays CHD why convert back to GDI?

Anyways it is possible to convert from CHD to GDI at present "IF" you have the proper DAT file for the original GDI dump. If it's a Redump dump then you need their DAT, if it's Tosec you need theirs.

Anyways the CHD must match up with the GDI name in the DAT, then you need to use this app: [Linky]

Give the app your DAT file and the locations where the CHD is, and where you want the resulting GDI to be produced.

@ iR0b0t -

I believe this is the thread I originally referred too.
[Linky]

hmm both groups are dumping 2352 sectors...the only visible difference is the gap data...which is typically all null. Further its...well track gaps...I mean what the hell.

@ GBK666 -

Yeah those few random useless symbols out in the middle of nowhere, that are not read by consoles or emulators are oh so important.

Minus the gap data of Redump, they will return the same SHA-1 values if the games are the same batch.

Puff your chest out over the track gaps if you like...but in reality its useless...and frankly a waste of time grabbing them.

Having a preference to having the gaps represented far as layout...fine...but actually dependent on them...is frankly silly.

I see no reason or sense in wasting peoples time, effort and money over junk data that is not used EVER.

I mean it makes as much sense as demanding the chemical makeup of the shrink-wrap that the game originally came in...it's useless and not necessary.

Thats odd since from what I read here on the forums at least one person has dumped a DC game with httpd-ack and null padded it...which appears from the forum post to have been accepted.

Yet when I purpose the same thing only automated...I get told no harshly.

Ether that method is acceptable or not.

Further both Redump and Tosec put this information and binaries out in public...so exactly whats wrong with using this stuff? Less it's simply a matter of ego...which really is the only way I see this.

Question if I convert Redump DC over to Tosec DC and find the match's are you guys going to pull those from the database?

Hell nether you guys or Tosec are interested in actually getting shit done...I got like 30 new dumps sitting over there and not a pip out of anyone.

Why the hell should anyone bother giving aid to you guys or tosec?

Yeah I found that, however I found posts also stating that there was some bs data showing up in the gaps as well...that you guys are trying to grab...at least according to that post.

I guess I should be more to the point...If I did create converted dumps would they be accepted? I know well enough how to do things...just trying to avoid some trial and error...and ultimately possible rejection.

Is it possible to convert between dump styles?

From what I've loosely understood is that non-null data is the same. The difference arises from Redump having null data prefixed or appended, and index entries adjusted appropriately.

If this is indeed the case I can probably write an AutoIt script to make the proper adjustments to convert Tosec to Redump...and ideally vise versa.

The idea of course is to get both groups efforts completed as soon as possible...and to reduce duplication of effort.

So if this is possible what are the test conditions?

Example:
<Track 1 Data> = 00:00:00
-- If Track 1 End Point Does Not Equal Track 2 Start Point Then Prefix Null To Track 2 & Adjust Track 2 Start Point
<Track 2 Audio>
<Track 3 Data> = 10:00:00
-- If Track 3 End Point Does Not Equal Track 4 Start Point Then Prefix Null To Track 4 & Adjust Track 4 Start Point
<Track 4 Audio>
-- If Track 5 Is Audio Then If Track 4 End Point Does Not Equal Track 5 Start Point Then Prefix Null To Track 5 & Adjust Track 5 Start Point
-- If Track 5 Is Data Then If Track 4 End Point Does Not Equal Track 5 Start Point Then Append Null To Track 4
<Track 5 Audio>
-- If Track 6 Is Audio Then If Track 5 End Point Does Not Equal Track 6 Start Point Then Prefix Null To Track 6 & Adjust Track 6 Start Point
-- If Track 6 Is Data Then If Track 4 End Point Does Not Equal Track 6 Start Point Then Append Null To Track 5
<Track 6 Data>
....

Is that the correct conditions or is it different?

Thanks...however development is now closed, as the application is more or less pointless since there are already other apps out there.

Take care.

Hi themabus,

I'll certainly work in your suggestions.

I really hadn't thought much about sectors originally...as I thought folks could just enter how many they wanted in the Frames section of the Time Based (Amount)...but if they wanted to use more than 74 it would violate the rule for that field...and doing the math to work the value into minutes and seconds defeats the purpose of the app...to be dead simple to use.

Well here is what it looks like at present:

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/4039/trimandpadx.png

Okay I mentioned in a prior thread that I was toying with creating some new scripts geared at Optical Binary Image Manipulation.

Well here is the first prototype of a UI for one of the scripts.

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/8852/trimandpad.png

However I'll likely change the "Data Type" from Radio controls to a ComboBox to simplify the UI...that said everyone is welcome to make suggestions on how to present the UI.

Well should have everything tied together by tomorrow sometime, but I'll welcome suggestions for a week from now...just keep in mind basic controls...this is AutoIt not C#, so no WPF. smile

Thanks for the reply Rocknroms.

Hehe I'm curious as to what the "Other?" method is that someone voted for...hehe guess I'm going to learn something new. smile

I was just wondering whats the preferred method of markup for gaps in single or multi asset CUE files?

I'm toying around with scripts to create CUE's, Join files based on CUE's, Split files based on CUE's,...silly stuff anyways.

I mean, you could do something wrong (like the case I've mentioned). Different people have less chances to do something wrong in a same way.

Well true enough, however ideally I'll side step such mishaps. Hopefully with the AutoIt script I'll be writing it will remove a lot of the human error involved for myself and others.

Yes, confirmed (I tried it too) on NullDC. GDI is some kind of cue so I haven't ever understand the doubt about working or not.

Heh well the doubt springs from never having tried it ones self.

This isn't always good, though. Example - http://forum.redump.org/topic/3902/cd32 … mmander-e/ (was also confirmed twice by the same dumper).

Well I'd gladly accept any challenge to any of my claims of verification...hehe but I'll call bullshit if its something like Soul Caliber where I have 30 odd copies of the game & I run through them and come up with the same hashes. wink

3. Well when your looking at dumping hundreds of disc's it's nice to make it as less error prone as possible. smile Really I'll just have to get my hands dirty and see what can and can't be done in this area.
4. I'll only be able to do it with maybe 60 disc's at this point...I've given away a lot of dups. Hehe but I still have enough copies of Soul Caliber & Crazy Taxi to reroof my shed. wink
6. Well I'm not since the USA set should have been finished last year, till they decided to be lazy, followed by pissing in my coffee.

Well the ring couldn't that be compensated by an overly large pregap?...well I'm no storage media wiz thats for sure...but it would be nice to archive my dumps as single images with a cue sheet.

I do have a dreamcast...actually like 4 or 5 still and one BBA...frigging over priced NIC. Not sure if I'm up for buying a another drive...got a ton of Sony's, Plextor's, Toshiba's and really hoping one of them will do the job. smile

Anyways I guess we'll see what I can cook up.

Well I could take a look at your guys method of dumping and if I can manage doing it with the hardware I have hear I'll see about doing up some dumps. (USA 200+, JAP 5+, EUR 1 or 2)

However a few questions up front.

1. Can the dumps be used by NullDC & Makaron?
2. How perfect must the disc's be for dumping? (mint, good, okay, trash)
3. Past the manual disc swap can I automate the rest of it with AutoIt...or is there more human interaction required?
4. Can I verify my own dumps with other disc's I own...or am I treated as a liar just like with TOSEC?
5. Are dumps actively accepted and verified...the lag TOSEC has is unacceptable...100 dumps & only like 10 check in three weeks.
6. You guys going to have issues with the fact I have issues with TOSEC?

Mildly off topic...but has anyone figured out a way to create a more standard image of these dumps? Ideally I'd like to turn all my dumps into compressed MDS\MDF images with DaemonTools.
