Hey guys, a while ago there was an argument regarding the naming of the James Bond PlayStation 2 games. The winning argument which resulted in all games being prefixed with '007' was basically that this was the way that they appeared on the front of the covers/discs.

The counter argument (James Bond 007:) was that the games should be named using the official names as given by the publishers / The names on the spines of the covers because that is how they would be seen if catalogued in a library for example.

This wasn't mentioned before, but on the Platinum discs, the names all start with 'James Bond 007' eg http://tinyurl.com/ps2bond

There was a reasonable amount of discussion on the wikipedia pages re these games and it was decided that the games should all be prefixed with 'James Bond 007'. This is of course irrelevant to whatever is decided here but it helps to show that others belive that the official names should have this prefix.

I would like a poll/discussion to be started that accepts input from everyone, not just moderators.

It is my and a few others' opinion that the 007 titles be removed and replaced with these:

James Bond 007 - Nightfire

James Bond 007 - Everything or Nothing

James Bond 007 in... Agent Under Fire ('James Bond 007 - Agent Under Fire' would be acceptable to keep the names consistant or to remove any issues with more dots in the file names.)

James Bond 007 - Alles Oder Nichts

From Russia with Love (even though the official name comes without the prefix of the other games, 'James Bond 007 - From Russia with Love would be acceptable to keep the naming consistant.)

Excellent job so far! I have added 1 or 2 things to the wiki... i'll add some more to the pal section when I get time;)
It would be cool if everyone here checked it out; With the amount of PS2 people own, I'm sure a few gaps could be filled big_smile

or maybe remove (Au) and others altogether and just use (E)

Ok that makes collecting the PS2 #'s easier tongue

eg
English name: 2002 FIFA World Cup [SLES-50796]

If I am able to get my hands on the German version, its name is: FIFA Fussball Weltmeisterschaft 2002 [SLES-50800]
French, Italian and Spanish versions are probably [SLES-50797, 50798 and 50799] all with different names

Which name would you add that to the DB as? English or actual?

I can do more if you want

@BadSector: You probably have these on your to-do list already but here are some suggestions:

The button that says 'Start Comprasion' - should that be 'Start Compression'?
It would be cool if it didn't give a message box showing the status for every dump. Then you could leave it unattended. Maybe put a log in the main program window instead
Make it check for a valid path so the program wont crash if you type in something random like "#$%#$%#"- or make it so you can only select the path using 'browse'
Disable form resize and maximise button or make the controls resize when the form is resized
If you take a file/files out of the directory that the program hasnt compressed yet, it makes a 32kb 7z file for each one

if somebody volunteers, I would make compression attempts with you, it simply saves an amount HDD space

I'm about to go to sleep but ill use it tomorrow on the dumps we both have

Apparently it can run iso's directly off the hdd or usbhdd without needing a modchip at all

you need to patch iso before running.

Under future announced features, it says: HDD and USB-HDD support to enable boot of "unpatched" game ISO files from HDD and USB-HDD!

I just bought a new PS2 - model: SCPH 90002 (NZ$199 for the console, extra controller, memory card + game all new). Ive been looking around at mod chips and one that is readily available to buy and have installed in my area is the Modbo 760. Has anyone had a bad experience with this chip? I can hardly find a review of this chip online but they seem to be selling everywhere.

@pepsidrinker: When I look at the serial in the actual disk in ISO Buster it doesn't display ANZ. All the AUS PS2 Dumps I have which are verified match exactly with the Europe ones already on here

21

(14 replies, posted in General discussion)

Most of the serials are the same as the Europe ones except there is /ANZ or -ANZ added to the end of them on the disc, cover and manual. Most things say 'This product is licensed for sale in Australia and New Zealand only' I havent seen anything with Sony Australia on it yet

22

(14 replies, posted in General discussion)

Is there some sort of list I can look at to check if some Australia/New Zealand games are different from European versions/not released in Europe? 99% of them are exactly the same but for my new dumps I have no way of knowing so im putting everything in under Australia.

Will you change the region to Europe if someone confirms the dump and puts Europe or what do you suggest I do?

I have access to a lot of games but I can only take a few at a time so my dump count will go up slowly but surely tongue

Out of my dump list so far http://redump.org/list/have/OmniouS/ps2/

I know that Buzz sports quiz is definitely (Au) but the rest are probably (E)
