So is that 139 * 16 + 8 = 2232 /4 = 558(Fixed read offset?)

558 - 1176 = -618   so factory write offset is -648 (+30 read offset for drive)

I used the cdreader tool and the same sync/header was on sector 2.

There's 12 bytes in the last row, so that makes it -647 write offset.

or: 588 - ((7*16)+4)/4=  559 - 2*588 = -617

53 (edited by gigadeath 2008-02-14 22:16:44)

Actually it is

(139 * 4) - (588 * 2) = -617

you forgot the 3 samples on the last row big_smile

So, vigi if I see this from now on it will be 12 bytes? "3D431FF162C4E7D372DDE599" is it the number of them there or what they are that says 12 bytes there? I would like to know so I don't have to keep posting.

2 characters = 1 byte, so 24 characters = 12 bytes. Or you can count lines, multiply * 4 and then subtract sectors, in this case there are 139,75 lines before the sync.

Ok, thanks a lot!!

Vigi or someone else can please confirm if I'm doing it right?

I'm going to dump Dennin Aleste SCD and using px_d8 I matched the database write offset this way:

with command line "px_d8 d 0 0" I got the following code:

((88 * 16) + 4) / 4 = 353

and "018172"

Then I move one more sector (command line "px_d8 d 1 0", "px_d8 d 2 0", etc.) until I got "018200" (pregap 2 sec) with command line "px_d8 d 3 0".

So finally I got (588 * 3) + 353 = +2117 (combined write + read offset) and 2117 - 30 = +2087 (write offset) same of database.

My patch requests thread
--------------------------------

If it's the same as in the db then it must be correct smile

Vigi, thanks for your reply. By the way I have to be confirmed if I'm doing it right if I'll dump CDs not in database. If I understand px_d8 works similar to isobuster way of detecting offsets, but it's more accurate.
To find an offset like that in the previous post I had to move 3 sectors forward since I found the sector with "018200" in px_d8 log, is this right for every disc having second track pregap of 2 sec? And supposing I have a disc with second track pregap of 1.74, I had to move to sector having "018174" in px_d8 log to calculate offset?

My patch requests thread
--------------------------------

Sorry dude, the "018200" and "018174" aren't related to the pregap size.. you should browse the first couple of sectors in normal mode and look for the same number (for instance "018200") as the px_d8 gives in sector 0..

The best way to figure out the sector correction is by using Truong's cdreader tool: http://www.cdtool.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ … 1_2b20.zip.

Use 'View Sectors' to go to the first sector of the data track, then enable the 'Apply YB scrambling' box. This will scramble the header (the sync/header is now the same as the px_d8 output). Then you can determine the offset in sectors by looking for the sector with the same sync/header in cdreader.

Ok, I totally understood the process. Thanks!
I can post some dumps.

Just want to make sure I got this right in case I find one with actual audio..

116 lines
4 extra

116 X 16 + 4 = 1860 /4 = 465 - 588 = -123 - +30 = -153

If the count "116 lines" is right, everything else is right

My patch requests thread
--------------------------------

The -30 is only to get the factory write offset, not the dumping value.. and we can't be sure about the -588.. just make sure you read it in d8 and the normal way without any subchannel reading. It should be ok then.

That sector is -2 in cdreader, how do you figure this out?

is it,

91 X 16 + 8 /4 = 366

-2 X 588 =  -1176

366 - -1176 = 1542 to dump with
