You can use CD Manipulator for dumping SafeDisc CD's

To be sure that the all corrupted sectors are dumped properly, it's important that a disc is at least dumped twice on different drives (and that the checksum matches on both drives).

If your disc also has audio sectors, it's important that you cut off the SafeDisc image to the size of the data track, and dump the audio tracks the normal way.

After dumping a proper SafeDisc image, you'll also have to include the following info:

- Amount of SafeDisc sectors. You can check this by opening the image in CDmage and scanning for corruption. The SafeDisc sectors will be within the range of 807 - 11920 (if you get them outside of this range, let us know) and will have a Medium Severity.
- SafeDisc version. Download Protection ID and open one of the game executables on the CD with it to get the SafeDisc version.

Here a nice little tool to analyze safedisc version. Source code included: http://www.generalfiles.biz/download/gs … r.zip.html

Does someone have this tool without all the crappy ads attached. (the one MrX posted).

Also what is wrong with CloneCD? I am NOT redumping a couple of hundred discs if the fill pattern is different than 55.

Plextor PX-760A 1.07 (+30) : Plextor PX-716SA 1.11 (+30) : Plextor PX-W5224A 1.04 (+30) : Plextor PX-W4824 1.07 (+30) : Plextor PX-W4012TA 1.07 (+98) : Plextor PX-W1610TA (+99) : Plextor PX-W1210TA 1.10 (+99) : Lite-On LTR-48246S (+6) : Lite-On LTR-52246S (+6) : Lite-On LH-20A1H LL0DN (+6) : BenQ DW1655 BCIB (+618) : ASUS DRW-2014L1 1.02 (+6) : Yamaha CRW-F1 (+733) : Optiarc SA-7290H5 1H44 (+48) : ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.02 (+6)

It gives the same output as clonecd.. But I think DIC does safedisc sector filling now too.

I have a Settlers IV game that is protected with SafeDisc. Is it possible that sectors are corrupted in more than one range? The ranges are:
1) 67 to 10066
2) 93024 to 93025
3) 275049 to 275050
4) 286368 to 286369
5) 303979 to 303980

I have 3 CDs with the same game (I bough the game 3 times). Each one of them has different combination of corrupted ranges:

CD1: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5
CD2: 1 + 2 + 4 + 5
CD3: 1 + 4 + 5

Safedisc v2.51.021

What to do with this stuff?

If you put the link to JDownloader for example the file is downloaded...

What is the proper way to dump Safedisc games that have corrupted sectors outside of the protection range (because of scratches on the disc)? If I use DIC without the /rc option or CDManipulator without the Ignore read errors, will it work?

AFAIR in DIC, if you omit /rc, dumping process will fail. You must use /rc. Faulty sectors will be replaced with 0x55. You would have to patch in sectors from different image...

My plextor can't dump this disc and my other drives don't support d8 command, so I can't use the /rc option in DIC.
I'm trying to dump the disc with CD Manipulator to see if I can get consistent results.

D8 for Safedisc is only to speed up ripping process. Erroneous sectors are read in scrambled mode and the drive does not verify EDC/ECC.

What is really important is C2 option that guarantees that dump is perfect, without it you're never sure if the dumps is correct or not...

I'm going to do some gravedigging here, so I apologize in advance. I recently came across the issue of trying to detect SafeDisc v3/4 without ProtectionId. There seem to be no public instructions out there on how these protections are actually found. If anyone here has even the slightest conceptual idea, I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance!

AFAIK the only way is to scan the game .exe
