Hi, I noticed that using EAC's detection Mode A and B give me completely different gap values. With mode A most gaps are 2 sec, using mode B they are usually non-integer and smaller than 2 sec.
Which one is the correct?

Also if the pregap is 2.01 what's its size?

TIA

Yes, you can use the cd dumping guide for PC games (as long as they don't have protections like SafeDisc or SecuROM). Same question answered here also: http://forum.redump.org/viewtopic.php?id=1998

Hey Vigi, you just answered my question before I edited it. I found that post right after I posted that one. Sorry tongue

Except for 1 drive which requires method B, all the others I have work right using method A.

The problem is that I'm getting inconsistent results with my 3 drives.
Plextor W2410A:
Track1 (data) pregap: 2.00
Track2 pregap: 2.01
Tracks3-22 pregaps: 2.00

NEC 3540A:
Tracks1-21 pregaps: 2.00
Track22 pregap: 1.74

LG 4521B:
Track1 pregap: 2.00
Track2 pregap: 2.02
Tracks3-22 pregaps: 2.00

What can I do in this case?

Ugh that's nasty. Which disc is it? Console or PC?

Hexen for PC (Made in Canada)

I really don't know, my disc reported all perfect 2.00 pregaps. Maybe someone knows more.

Do the tracks match the euro version checksums if dumped with 2.00 gap?

BTW I have the same problem with some SegaCD discs. There's a fault in either EAC or the drives.

It's clear that EAC has gap issues, but the only solution that I know is to use perfectrip instead

I only tested Track02 using the NEC and it didn't match (my SHA1 was F5183FBEE5B6794D70CC87C62D2E26BD6B31B02F).
I used a +270 based on this:

Are C2 pointers not checked because your drive doesn't support them?

I guess I won't be able to dump games with audio tracks using my drives sad

I got consistent results with a Pioneer 107D and a NEC 3540A but both of them report that track22 has a pregap of 1.74 and both my other drives and gigadeath's report it as having a 2.00 pregap sad

gigadeath: I don't enable C2 because there's no real advantage except speed and could lead to false good rips. AFAIK the only program that can properly use C2 pointers is dbpoweramp.

My Plextor PX-W4824A arrived today (18 € well spent), and it works with PerfectRip! I tried it with Sonic CD and the dump matched.

And most important, PerfectRip correctly reads the pregap for 2 tracks Sega CDs, it reports 2.00 pregap instead of 0.00 fake one from EAC. EAC definitely doesn't work with all discs.
