I need help dumping Ogre Battle for the PSX, I documented everything I did from start to finish so hopefully someone will be able to identify where I'm making a mistake.  And please note that I'm using Windows 7 64 bit OS.

Opened IsoBuster

I right clicked Track 01 and selected

Extract Track 01 -> Extract RAW Data (2352 bytes/block) (*.bin, *.iso)

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-1copy-21.png

Set up EAC per the guide

Opened EAC & pressed F4 to detect gaps

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-2copy-9.png

So it has a pregap of 2 seconds which is 150 sectors

Then I removed Track02 pregap from Track 01 using fpcopy64

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-3copy-6.png

Next step is checking and repairing postgap

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-4copy-4.png

Next I determined the factory write offset

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-6copy-2.png

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-7copy-2.png

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-8copy.png

So if I figure this out correctly

2 * 16 = 32 / 4 = 8

My driver offset is +6  TSSTcorpCDDVDW SH-S223L

So I changed the Offset in EAC

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/Specialt1212/Untitled-9copy.png

Then I Ripped the audio tracks with EAC

I then renamed the Track 01.iso   to  Track01.bin

Then I created a cue sheet and updated it by replacing

I tested it in multiple emulators and kept getting the same results. I also tested the original CD on actual hardward to make sure it was working correctly, and it was.

The music at the Atlus intro works fine however there is no music during the title screen or the intro and there should be. Just so you understand please look at this video I found on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCeRFSHz … re=related

Another weird thing to note is that the sound effects work at the title screen.

As soon as I click new game the character Warren starts asking questions and it starts to play the appropriate music. So that part is correct the only part that isn't working is the intro / title screen music.

I also tried burning the image to a disc and playing it on my chipped PS1 system. It won't load the disc it just sits at the Sony PS1 main menu with the option of memory card / cd drive.

Can anyone identify what I'm doing wrong?

Uhm, everything looks fine to me. I really want to see this resolved, as I remember similar cases (with audio not working properly) in the past.
Hopefully you'll get an answer and I want it too smile

Every step you've taken looks perfect. I'd blame the music anomalies on the emulator(s), unless everything works perfect when you use the emulator with the real disc.

As far as you chipped PS1 goes, if you load your burned CD in your PC, is everything normal? (Correct number of tracks, correct pregap length, try playing the music in an audio player, etc) I assume that if you have a chipped PS1, you're familiar with what brands of CD-Rs to use and to use a low burning speed.

If something is weird about the disc, whatever program you used to burn it might not like the format of the audio tracks or something. If that's the case, try mounting the image in DAEMON Tools, then use your burning program's "copy disc" function to copy from the virtual drive to your CD-R.

First of all I wanted to thank everyone for all the help they provided, second of all you will not believe the amount of time I spend on this... but regardless I got it figured out.

1. The intro music wouldn't playing in any of the there emulates I tried, so it must be a glitch with the emulation.

2. I redumped it on my XP 32 bit system and got the exact same data (compared using a hash calculator)

3. I burned the disc on the 32 bit XP system and tested it on a modded PS1 but it didn't work however I also have a modded ps2 which I tested it in and it played perfect intro music and all. I have other burned PS1 games with the same brand of CD-R and they play fine on my ps1 so I'm not sure why this won't work on my ps1 but after testing it on my ps2 it worked perfect. So I'm (almost) 100% confident that this is a perfectly ripped game (hopefully).

I'll post the info in the new dumps section once I get a response to my final two question.

1. What format should I change track 01 to? Should I leave it as an iso file or rename it to a bin file?

2. Also in re-naming the tracks for the cue sheet, should I label them as

- Ogre Battle Limited Edition Episode Five The March of the Black Queen (USA) (Track 01).iso (or bin)
- Ogre Battle Limited Edition Episode Five The March of the Black Queen (USA) (Track 02).bin
- Ogre Battle Limited Edition Episode Five The March of the Black Queen (USA) (Track 03).bin
- Ogre Battle Limited Edition Episode Five The March of the Black Queen (USA) (Track 04).bin
- Ogre Battle Limited Edition Episode Five The March of the Black Queen (USA) (Track 05).bin

or should I just leave them as the default track02.bin / track03.bin etc?

Oh and one more thing, why isn't the cue sheet included in the clrmamepro scan shouldn't that file need to be verified as well?

I've had similar things happen before. When I got my CD64 (RIP), I burned a disc with the correct filesystem settings. The disc loaded perfect, so I proceeded to burn the rest of my discs according. Turns out, for some reason, only the first disc I burned was liked by the CD-ROM drive. I swapped the CD-ROM drive for another, and it read all the discs perfect. CD-ROM drives can just be really picky.

1, 2 & 3: The filenames in the cuesheet don't matter, since the server will parse the track types and generate its own cuesheets based on the name of the game itself. Since the server generates its own cuesheet, your cuesheet doesn't need to be hashed, since it won't be directly used.

After your game is added to the database, download the cuesheets archive to get the cuesheet matching the dat. If you've submitted a dozen or so games, it'll just be easier to let clrmamepro do all the renaming for your files by downloading and feeding it the dat.

If you're only submitting a couple of games, you can rename your files with a tool like Ant Renamer.

I keep all my files named Track##.bin. After I submit the game, I download the cuesheet and copy the part of the filename contained, up to the track number. For instance:
"Amazing Virtual Sea-Monkeys, The (USA) (En,Es) (Track " from "Amazing Virtual Sea-Monkeys, The (USA) (En,Es) (Track 01).bin"

Using Ant Renamer, I drag all the bin files in, then go to action > string replacement.
For games with < 10 tracks, replace "Track0" with the string copied earlier. For games with >= 10 tracks, replace "Track".
Also, check include extensions and replace ".bin" with ").bin".

That's an easy way to manually rename your tracks if you have a couple of games and don't want to have to hassle with clrmamepro.

Thanks for all the help, I uploaded the disc info to the new dumps section

http://forum.redump.org/post/24996/#p24996

I have a couple more games I'm planning on dumping so I may be asking for more help in the near future if I run into any unusual situations.

Thanks again!

So I was going through the PS1 games I uploaded here that haven't been verified and was redumping them with perfect rip to make sure the dumps matched, just to check for accuracy. All the dumps I've did so far match except Ogre Battle I've dumped it with multiple drives including my plextor using the normal method (isobuster & EAC) and came up with the same results that are in the database however when I use Perfect Rip I'm coming up with a discrepancy i.e. tracks 2 & 3 are not matching.

I'll include my most recent EAC log (which matches the original dump) as well as the perfect rip log

Is this dump listed correctly in the database or should I do something else to check for accuracy?

Why don't you run hexcmp on the two dumps and see what differs.

I don't think I'd readily trust PerfectRip's results. If you look in the Mega CD sticky, you can see that it sometimes adds garbage data to the pregap.

Maybe someone can link you to a version of perfectrip that's a bit older that you can test.. I've heard from iR0b0t that there can be problems sometimes with the b34 (final) version.

The EAC hashes also match fuzzball's jap dumps here: http://redump.org/disc/6471 so they should be good

Could you paste the 2 perfectrip .cue's here? Maybe PerfectRip failed to detect some gaps and this might explain the difference. If the cue's are the same as EAC's then you could try comparing with hex editor.

Ok.. they both seem wrong, so the EAC dump should be okay.

velocity37 - thanks for the info about the comparision utility I wasn't aware of it.

And thanks to everyone else for looking into this, I just wanted to make sure the dump was accurate.
