Hello everyone.

I just found this place because i was searching for something, a PS1 dat file for the program offline list and it seems there is not.

I would like you to take the little time to download it (totally free) and check that is a very valuable tool for collectionists

and there are some other dats (like 40) in http://nointro.free.fr/ and for Nintendo GBA, DS and Sony PSP in http://www.advanscene.com/

I think it's a great tool (just in case nobody noticed:D ) and i think it would be truly amazing if the Redump project would make dats of the systems that are being covered (PS1, PS2, X-Box,Dreamcast,etc.) for offline list

Thank you everybody for taking the time to read this post, I hope somebody know how to do it and decides to go for it smile

it's great program, but unfortunately it doesn't look too compatible with redump.org
it looks like it only support single file per game and also languages & regions lack some values.
i haven't checked thoroughly though, maybe i'm wrong

Mmm i don't mean to use it as a front end to execute the games but as a tool to find an specific game if you remember only part of the name or to avoid having separate NTSC-PAL lists because you can do that selection with the program, for example with the PSP dat i want all the duplicates gone of the list with preference USA, EUR, JAP and then the list appears properly modified to my criteria

About languages and regions, are defined with every dat for example in the GB dat appear Europe, Japan, USA, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden

and languages chinese, danish, dutch, english, french, german, italian, japanese, spanish, swedish

and appear more data like size of the game, size of the savedata, company, CRC

While in others for example the Game Gear appear Europe, Japan,USA

and languages english,japanese and spanish

So i think it depends only on how you make the dat

it could be used for such purposes indeed, but then redump.org database isn't quite fit -
it's still very incomplete and there are no relations between releases from different regions kept.
so if it isn't an aim to have CRCs, it would be far better to parse SonyIndex (no regional relations also, afaik),
VGRebirth (best option, imho) or GameFAQs (quite messed up)

about regions and languages: i think those values are precompiled in executable,
but search options would be filled with those actually used in .dat
so they only appear to be different depending on system

ability to redefine languages in .dat would be interesting and universal in a sense,
but i don't think it is the case, unfortunately.

Well i guess I'll contact VGRebirth and wait for their opinion

Thanks for taking the time to check this

I've actually used this program once before and found it fairly useful. I will have to agree with themabus though, redump's dats are far from ready to be used with this program but it might still be possible to modify the current way that redump generates the dats so it can be used with this program and we might still be able to use save info if we add it to the dumps. CRC may still be an issue though as well as the multiple track issue but a bit of tweaking to the program to support that shouldn't be too hard if someone can get the source.
