Hello,

I have a complete Mega-CD (J) collection and would like to dump it for this site, not to mention for personal archival. However, most of the discs I've tried up to now, following the guide on this site, had very large read/write offsets (somewhere around 2000 usually) and I usually get a sync error at the end of the last audio track on the disc.

Right now I am using a Plextor PX-750A with an offset of +102. Poking around these forums, it seems like the best thing to do would be to try dumping with another drive, preferably one with a very negative offset. Does this sound like the right thing to try? Sony CDU4811's seem pretty cheap on ebay, for example.

Thanks.

Hello Fenezo,

PX-750A is not a real plextor (it should be a Benq), this basically means only you can't use some pxtools which can simplify the job. Probably you may have some problems with last track as you said, by the way try to dump CDs already in DB and so confirm the ones which get a good dump (more good dumps more confirmations for Redump). If you got always a sync error for last track so you have to try another drive, this is not a problem of cddrive offset, but only a limitation of the drive. On 99% cddrive offset is not a problem.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I've been dumping games that are already in the database just to be sure I was doing everything right, and all the offsets and checksums have been matching for me except those sync errors. I'll go search for another drive then.
