I was unable to dump a RingPROTECH disc with DIC, it just hung forever on the errors. I was able to copy the disc easily with Alcohol, although that is not ideal. However I think it's possible to implement the Intelligent Error Scanner it has, CloneCD had it also and was also able to dump the disc.

The game is Ski-Doo X Team Racing (USA)

here is the Alcohol dump log, it seems similar to LaserLock.

OptiARC seems to give the best results for RingProtech...

Shouldn't track 2 contain more index entries?
Track 6 matches sub file (index = 1, 2, 3)

I made sub dump with cdtool to confirm the sub looks ok and it's fine (matches DIC).

OptiARC seems to give the best results for RingProtech...

PX-716 did better than Optiarc actually , was able to read one more sector without a billion retries.

I'm not sure it's RingProtech at all though, could just be some other error protection.

OK that method takes too long for me and there are several ranges, it takes hours to get past the error blocks while Alcohol/CloneCD only take about 10 minutes. I managed better with Isobuster manually doing seeks from about 200 sectors beyond the last error and back to the last sector after the errors.

I used bus hound to capture what the intelligent error sector scanner does, I can post the log if you want.

I tried to capture what DT does when dumping tages too but they are cloaking it somehow from Bus Hound.

Was this the result you expected? And are these 2 images needed to merge?

2,045 (edited by Nexy 2019-08-11 16:42:00)

I expected differences , but not 1/2 the discs, we need to examine more. I did XIII disc 2 over night, seems descrabling didn't work due to a bug, here is the cmd output.

The image was also not descrambled because the offset was not corrected. Attached logs (except error because it was 3+ gb).

I am unable to unscramble the image with unscrambler, will try something else. :edit: this was due to the 0 sector not being completely read.

More findings, we have success on getting the twin sectors. Now we need to find the positions on the physical media for both.

The reverse dump was also 3 blocks too short, not sure what is up with that.

Well there is no way to scan for them presently, once we have a good tool for such then I won't. For now I will to do research. Also with the DVD 1/2 the disc was different, so something is up with that.

Maybe it's a bug because the files are over 2GB ?
