Hey Redump Community,

while rebuilding my NGC collection using the clrmamepro i noticed that 2 files always got an error, as i tried to rename it manualy i noticed that the filename in the redump dat file is too long and windows does not accept it.

Discs:

http://redump.org/disc/4730/
http://redump.org/disc/4731/

i hope somebody is going to solve this problem.

Edit:
2 more

http://redump.org/disc/4732/
http://redump.org/disc/4733/

Edit 2:
Actually thats not the problem of the long filename, its more the whole destination.
My NGC PAL Set is in the Dir

Y:\Redump_NGC_Pal\

with the release it would be

Y:\Redump_NGC_Pal\2 Games in 1 - Nickelodeon SpongeBob Schwammkopf - Der Film + Nickelodeon SpongeBob Schwammkopf - Schlacht um Bikini Bottom (Germany) (Disc 1)\2 Games in 1 - Nickelodeon SpongeBob Schwammkopf - Der Film + Nickelodeon SpongeBob Schwammkopf - Schlacht um Bikini Bottom (Germany) (Disc 1).iso

This is way to long for windows.

The Dirs create fine, but if i try to move the file to the dir i get this:
http://dl.hurenso.hn/.Pics/dest_toolong.png

Translation to English:
The filename would be too long for its destinationdir, shorten the filename and retry or use another path which is shorter.

Any idea how this might be globaly solved?

Edit 3:
So i moved my whole collection up to Y:\
and removed the Redump_NGC_Pal dir.

http://redump.org/disc/4732/
http://redump.org/disc/4733/

work now.

But those 2 are still way to long for destination:

http://redump.org/disc/4730/
http://redump.org/disc/4731/

Suggestion:

How about trimming the Nickelodeon out of the title?

Edit 4:

So i googled a bit and noticed that the max. path is 256 chars.

so my suggestion would be:
256 - 4 (4 because of the .ext)
252 / 2 = 126
Max. Discname should be 126 (?)

(Scenario for Windows FS in the "root" dir (e.g. Y:\)

no intro naming convention is horrible.

Speaking of filename issues... ...Iru! starts with a period, which makes the file hidden on Linux and could confuse people. I think it should probably be changed to just "Iru!".
