Hi. Discovered this site properly (may have been on before, but didn't understand its purpose) whilst trying to get my CD image working for the European copy of MediEvil 2 on DuckStation. I noticed, after burning my copy of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, that the hash key doesn't match. I think the reason being is because my PAL version is from the Collector's Edition, which doesn't appear to have been added. Hopefully it's an easy process, but I wanted to sign up to add my copy.

Hello there,

Just to clarify, as I can't quite tell from your message - redump accepts metadata/hash contributions from actual discs preserved using our approved disc drives and software.  Do you have the actual disc that you are trying to backup and submit the data for?  If so, we can definitely assist you.

Unfortunately, hotmail (and also gmail) accounts, are rejecting our account setup e-mails.  If you do have the legitimate discs and want to preserve them and submit metadata, please try with a different e-mail address (if you need one, we know protonmail works and is free).

Ah. That might explain why I didn't receive an email notification about this response. I can certainly give protonmail a try.

Also, just to clarify for me, when you mention 'our approved disc drives and software', does this mean the discs need to be sent off? Or are there certain specifications user's disc drives need to have first? I certainly can't send the disc off due to how rare and expensive it is now. But yes, I have the actual disc. I've had it since 2010. smile So if it's just the metadata/hash contributions I can make on my end, then yes, that's what I'm referring to.

Thanks

No need to send the disc anywhere, metadata from a dump is what we want. You just mentioned "burning" which is writing a disc, so we thought perhaps you were referring to a CD-R copy you had.

What's the serial on the disc label? SLES-00524 is here: http://redump.org/disc/1130/

The dump is quite old though, a verification would be useful.

If your disc is SLES-00524, and the data track matches (CRC a2ca6e76) but the audio track doesn't (70efb5c6), then it's most likely just because your drive is not one of the "CD compatible drives" that dump the disc fully.

Ahhhh. Okay, wrong choice of word. ^^;

But yes, it's the same serial. But the issue is the second option - the data track matches the hash but the audio track doesn't. I figured it was due to it being a part of the collector's edition instead of the standard.

So, I'm a bit confused about the whole compatible drives. I'm not quite sure what mine is; I'd need to check. I know it's a Blu-ray rewritable drive. Windows lists it as ATAPI iHES112 3. The firmware is ML05. Serial No.: 3782512043 216212501359. That's all I know about it. Had it for years.

Your drive does not sound compatible, and is likely the reason why your hashes differ.  You can see the list of compatible drive models on the page Deterous linked.  If you need further assistance, I highly recommend joining the discord as that is the best and easiest way for us to assist you and explain this a bit more.

Okay, I'll ask on there. Thanks.
