YES !

@iR0b0t

Any chance you can try one more time with this new version

BadSector is any other ps2 game in Your own? 2gb image took really long to compress.

Unfortunately No, I just recently started getting few PS2 games, so don't have many. i will try to find a dump of some small game thou.

We dont need to take any PS2 game, something else should work too, PSX game of a small size should be ok !
Dino Crisis (Demo) (U) is really small, take that for comparison test ! Transfer patch can be found on the master list for PSX games !

P.S. is khurrum ur user name on ur machine? ))

PX-760A (+30), PX-W4824TA (+98), GSA-H42L (+667), GDR-8164B (+102), SH-D162D (+6), SOHD-167T (+12)

here are the checksums for Dino Crisis (Demo) (U)

md5 2803910e78ef19f3d947dfec48c6c74c
crc   88087b5a

P.S. before u compress bin file rename it to iso, but maybe this vb tool is written by u (?) and u know it already ))

PX-760A (+30), PX-W4824TA (+98), GSA-H42L (+667), GDR-8164B (+102), SH-D162D (+6), SOHD-167T (+12)

K, thanks, i will download and check it.

Khurrum is my username, but were did u see it.

The file above is not compressed with ur tool, so decompress and compress it again for right checksums.

P.S. if u check the Paradox DB file, u will see that the strings are decrypted and so u can see a path (line 93) to ur project files wink
I have accepted that this tool of made by You ))

ya CRC matches. now we need to check it on some ps2 images. i will update soon on which image we can check.

After i asked u i opened that file to see my name in it, bye the way its called "program debug database" file in .net and would not be required in final version.

Edit, and the CRC of Kingdom Hearts (U) [SLUS-20370] was 0c3f01e0

Do u know what compression parameters 7z uses by default ? ultra ?
And which parameters have u given in ur last tool ?

PX-760A (+30), PX-W4824TA (+98), GSA-H42L (+667), GDR-8164B (+102), SH-D162D (+6), SOHD-167T (+12)

it think it normal coz task manager show it allocate about 197 MB ram, which is what it do on normal setting, my tool also uses the default setting. thou once this is successful, we can try some higher settings also.

The last checksums for Kingdom Hearts (U) [SLUS-20370] were:

md5: cff622681e7d5bb95f6d02ef01b8eded
crc: 0cf8c6de

so no match (

PX-760A (+30), PX-W4824TA (+98), GSA-H42L (+667), GDR-8164B (+102), SH-D162D (+6), SOHD-167T (+12)

ohh thats great, it actually matched, i recently overclocked my system and there was also some problem with 7za 4.53 version and coz of it sometime it corrupted a archive thou 7z didn't reported it so i restore my system to it original setting and used 4.57 (didn't used 4.58 as it also have a change in compression method) and the crc's matched.

Now that it worked, what options do u think it should have.

currently what i have in mind are

1)An option to delete the image if compression was successfully.

2)A renamer for ps2 images.

so is there any interest in this application coz if there is i can update it by removing few short comings and releasing a new version

If it's torrentzip for ps2 games, yeah I am interested.

the purpose of it is to work like torrentzip but

me and iR0b0t tested it on couple of game only and thou it provided the same result, but to be 100% sure i would like to have about 5-6 more result atleast, the only problem is i don't have many ps2 games yet, so if someone who have used it to compress the ps2 game can post CRC's of there 7z file so that they can be compared it can give a good indication how good it really is and how much more work it require.

if somebody volunteers, I would make compression attempts with you, it simply saves an amount HDD space

PX-760A (+30), PX-W4824TA (+98), GSA-H42L (+667), GDR-8164B (+102), SH-D162D (+6), SOHD-167T (+12)

I'm about to go to sleep but ill use it tomorrow on the dumps we both have

just to update I have also posted this software on a friends site which have many ps2 images and hoping to get few results from there also.

great big_smile

just one thing, I believe current settings in your tool let 7z compress images as solid archive ?!
that could be a problem if you will rename file names later after compression if the db name changes !?

what do you think?

actually its uses the default setting, and i don't think solid archive option is on by default. but i also believe that its better to recompress the image then to use a file in 7z to make sure that file didn't get corrupted.

and i was reading the help of 7z other day and there was a command which one can use (thou at the moment i am not sure exactly how to use it) to get crc of a file without recompressing it, so we can also have our custom renamer, to save some time.

I can do more if you want

@BadSector: You probably have these on your to-do list already but here are some suggestions:

The button that says 'Start Comprasion' - should that be 'Start Compression'?
It would be cool if it didn't give a message box showing the status for every dump. Then you could leave it unattended. Maybe put a log in the main program window instead
Make it check for a valid path so the program wont crash if you type in something random like "#$%#$%#"- or make it so you can only select the path using 'browse'
Disable form resize and maximise button or make the controls resize when the form is resized
If you take a file/files out of the directory that the program hasnt compressed yet, it makes a 32kb 7z file for each one
