LD, HD or both? And no logs for LD part, why?

Spaces or TABs?

Both questions are about all your recent dumps (need to understand whether to add them with the spaces or tabs and whether the LD parts were dumped properly).

Also, what's the difference with GDX-0015 http://redump.org/disc/18905/? Doesn't look like a revision nor a different region release.

LD, HD or both? And no logs for LD part, why?

All my posts contain everything but the actual image files generated from LD and HD dumps. So I'm not sure I understand this question. It may be confusing that the text file generated by ice.exe has the same name as the LD dump file names but I assure you everything pertinent is there.

Spaces or TABs?

Honestly no idea this was a thing. Though now I'm asking myself if it's 1 space, 4 spaces, or a tab. How can you really tell unless the manufacturer and company owning the software knows the difference? Regardless I have attached the ringcode scan to this post so as with anything I'm unfamiliar with I refer to the consensus and will update my posts going forward to note this oddity.

That's a great question however, I only own GDX-0016 and GDX-0016A at that moment. So below is all I know at this time. Keep in mind I'm still not sure how to go about emulating these as I do not own arcade hardware.

Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 (Japan) - GDX-0015
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 (Japan) (Rev A) - GDX-0015A
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 (Export) - GDX-0016
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 (Export) (Rev A) - GDX-0016A

Export version is in Japanese? For Asia, then?

MajorPBX wrote:

The ones on the screenshot are tabs. When the space is as wide as any other character nearby, we use the space symbol, when the space is as wide as 2 or more characters, we use the tab symbol.

Could you quickly recheck the discs and list the ones with single spaces, if any? I will add all the other ones as tabs.

I can give my 2 cents on the GDX-0015 vs GDX-0016 issue.
GDX-0015 and GDX-0015A has the title written in Japanese script on the disc itself: 湾岸ミッドナイト マキシマムチューン2
GDX-0016 and GDX-0016A has the title written in English on the disc itself: Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2
I have photos of all these discs found on the net, if you need to see for yourself, but this is the only visible difference as far as I can tell.

As Chihiro is unemulated, we can't be certain how these discs behave when run on machines with different region BIOS, but previous experience with other similar cases (eg Initial D for NAOMI) shows that presumably the Japanese disc only works on Japanese machines while the "Export" disc works in all other regions. For the NAOMI case, the Initial D "Export" works with both US and Export BIOS machines.
It is quite likely this is the case here as well, but unless somebody owns multiple Chihiro boards to test the real disc or the board becomes emulated so we can run the dump, we can never be totally sure.

I know nothing about Chihiro regions, but here's what I see in MAME source code:

ic10_g24lc64.bin: This dump contains the firmware of the Base Board, serial number and REGION of the whole system
Region is located at Offset 0x00001F10 , 01 means JPN, 02 Means USA, 03 Means EXPORT, if you
want to change the region of your Chihiro Board, just change this byte.

It would be reasonable to assume the GDX-0016 works in US and Export regions and the GDX-0015 works in Japan region.

I will when I get the time, but until then I can say with approx. 90% certainty they all follow the tab format. Good lesson for me as I never really even considered this at all. Learn something new everyday!

The drive used to dump the HD area is +6 as I understand? (the exact drive model isn't mentioned anywhere)
