Topic: [FIXED] [CDTV] Potential issue with recently submitted dump
Hey all, reentrant reached out to me after I submitted the dump of Advanced Military Systems for CDTV (http://redump.org/disc/43650/) to point out that there was a corrupted sector at the end of the image. He pointed me at a copy on archive.org to check against (https://archive.org/details/advanced-military-systems).
I've since replaced my PX-716UF with another PX-716UF that seems to be a bit more reliable. Anyway, I set out to dump the disc a few different ways and here's what I've got:
- If I dump the disc to iso in Daemon Tools Pro it produces a 100% match to the file on archive.org. No error messages along the way.
- I was able to dump the disc without any error messages in Alcohol 120%, as well.
- Dumping in the current test version of DIC (20170805) is giving me a different result than the previously submitted dump. It's also throwing a different error message on that final sector.
- Ran a surface scan in isobuster with zero errors (is this even a useful step? Not sure what else I should be trying)
The first (submitted) dump threw this message: LBA[234526, 0x3941e], unknown mode: 60
This newer one gives me: LBA[234526, 0x3941e], mode 1 User data vs. ecc/edc doesn't match
I'm getting different checksums, too.
Here are full logs for both dumps in case anyone wants to take another look. Could this be a DIC bug? An error with the media that only DIC is finding? I'm a little out of my depth here.
