Yes, it's normal. Those securom protected sectors always read differently, so every time you make a dump, you get a different result. smile

Wow, how unexpected smile well, I said before, that all the torrent talk should be prohibited on this forum and the dumpers should NOT be encouraged to upload their stuff.

Torrent trackers are absolutely legal, they don't have any copyrighted data stored on the site (only the .torrent files with checksums), they're not against the law in most countries. So why do they have lawsuits so often? Trackers themselves, not only the users who seed or leech.

If I sue you for stealing my car, does it mean you are guilty of stealing my car? No, sure it doesn't. So asking "why do they have lawsuits so often" is like asking "why did the asshole rimmer accused me of stealing his car?" Well, I don't know, who cares? That's my problem, not yours. As long as you haven't stolen my car, you shouldn't care what I think. Just wait until I come up with a proof and then you have a chance to defend yourself. Until then, you don't need to open your mouth about the matter.

I hope it's clear what I was trying to say. The post is not offensive. smile

And again - do you really want to prove it in the court? smile

I don't know what country do you live in, but in most countries, and I believe in the one redump is hosted too, there's something called presumption of innocence, which says:

The burden of proof is on the prosecution, which has to collect and present enough compelling evidence to convince the trier of fact, who is restrained and ordered by law to consider only actual evidence and testimony that is legally admissible, and in most cases lawfully obtained, that the accused is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

So please, stop talking about proving something in the court, we don't have to prove anything.

Cool, it's great someone is actually working on the redump wiki. Keep up the great work!

What would be nice is a numeric digit, next to all the green light status discs, showing the amount of times it been verified as a good dump.

LIKE THIS: http://redump.org/images/status/green.png11

But maybe use numbers that are in a smaller font than everything else.

Then I could add up all the dumps to see the GRAND TOTAL smile

as with all the other requests, this sounds perfect too. tell iR0b0t or whoever else is now in charge to let me do it and it will be up and working in 10 minutes smile

Hello and welcome. Feel free to browse for more useful information wink

Great job, everyone involved!

Very cool. Thanks for the info !
I still don't get it why DC md5s downloaded from redump contain "track1.bin" "track2.bin" etc filenames, instead of the same ones as written in the gdi file ..

Well, yes, you got a point there.
If someone wants to update the guide, that'd be cool, but I really doubt anyone ever will, lol.

I don't think this is a problem.
If there's a choice to "extract raw data" in isobuster, choose that one and remember it's a CD.
If there's only "extract user data" selectable, choose that one and remember it's a DVD.
Case closed?

Hello to everyone,

I have been trying to dump a DC disc with SOHD-167T drive for last 3 hours now, unsuccessfully.

Running windows xp sp2 clean install. Installed ASPI 4.60. Tried with at least 3 firmwares on the drive.
With cover and without cover.

Swap works. But when I try to actually dump the disc, it simply fails.
Once I managed in sector view to read sectors 80 000, then 70 000, 60 000, 50 000, then I run the dump. It dumped 4 MB and failed.

Does anyone have ANY idea what am I doing wrong and WHY it doesn't work?

The drive is listed as supported on the forums so I really have no idea what to do next sad

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well, here's the comparison at the size of the current logo in the header:

Before:
http://redump.rimmer.sk/before.jpg

After:
http://redump.rimmer.sk/after.jpg

So yeah, it's true that at that size the subtitle is not as bold as the original.

Can anyone express their opinions about this?

I'm working on the video I announced a few days ago and I had to recreate the redump logo, since I need to use it in a HD video, so the vector is the only solution.
I'm sharing it with all you guys, maybe you can tell me what you think, or just use it yourself wherever you need.

Other versions:

Hello to everyone,

today I was thinking I could try and make some short (1 minute long) video/clip about how important it is to preserve discs. I would use my HD camera to shoot some suitable (abstract) scenes and put some good text in-between them.

I have some experience in directing stuff, so I think it would look great.

If nobody has anything against this idea, could you people link me some places where I could gather resources? Facts, statistics, something I could read and sum up so that people have good idea what's going on and why it's important.

In the end of the clip, I'd state that redump is not about illegal actions and sharing actual data is not allowed, not encouraged.

Please, have faith in me and help me with this idea smile If it goes well, I think a lot more people would join us and help!

I'm looking forward to all the replies!

That's a great point you got there. Fully agreed. I think the case is closed ...

Everything's fine, the CD doesn't have to be in the database, in fact, I don't think any CD is. (lol).
You don't have to resolve this.

RetroGamer wrote:

You have to unlock the drive first!! To do so insert the Video DVD you want to dump in the drive then run any DVD player software or DVD decrypter to unlock the drive then dump the disc with isobuster (like any other disc).

I never ever had to do this. Does it mean my dumps are incorrect?

It has to be dumped using isobuster, extracting the user data of track 1, a process same as dumping ps2 dvds.

It's very simple.

Uhm, you haven't actually stated what your problem is, but if I get it right, you can't submit the disc, because the data seems to be wrong.
I can only agree on that, I hate that clrmame thing too and I have no clue how is that thing supposed to work either.
I had a lot of problems getting a hang of it, but then I finally found out what needs to be done.

From the dat file created by the program, copy only those lines which start with rom.
I think the structure is rom(data here) per each track. copy only those and it should work properly.

I think you have to erase some sectors in ss.bin and then it will have the same CRC every time, but I'm not an expert in this field, so wait for some answer which can confirm this, or find some other solution.

Isn't there a way to force the drive to read that stuff?
Like extracting those sectors using isobuster, or something like that?

Hey there,

I dumped an audio disc on two different drives.
There are 13 tracks on the disc. First 12 matched perfectly.
But the last track is different in the last sectors area.

Any ideas what's wrong?

That's a good point and I fully agree with that, but then again, by claiming this, you go against yourself.
The ECM thing you people use in the pakkiso thing is something similar. There is no way I can work with that in linux. But yes, I am the only one who uses linux, so you have no reason to care, I know smile
