The Tomb Raider III games have already had their subchannels checked by F1ReB4LL (at least I remember my dump was).

In my opinion if it's not a driver or random software disc (like a Nero or AOL disc or something like that) then I don't see why it can't be added. After all we're already adding similar discs for the consoles, why not PC?

In the case of multiple games the No-Intro guys use: X Games in 1: Game1 + Game2 + ... + GameX (Region) (Languages)
Here's a example that I have: http://redump.org/disc/2939/

They do that because those cartridges actually say that on them. I've seen one at Wal-Mart in a discount games bin once.

[EDIT]
I also see no reason why these discs shouldn't be added to the database. After all we are trying to collect information on as many of these rare discs as possible.

Wow they sure did make that inconvenient. We have to admit though that if TOSEC does anything better then us it's GD-ROM dumping. They have more people working for them on the GD-ROM stuff then we do. Thanks for the input though and I'll make sure to bring this up to Dremora's attention since he's the one that handles all the back-end web code on the site. Also the reason only the 3 track games are matching is because we dump the audio tracks differently then TOSEC does. You should be able to get most of the audio tracks to match by shifting their offsets.

It's just a 2048byte dummy file. You can generate one using psxt001z.

psxt001z.exe --gen 2K.00 2048

you can split .DAT file by using a software called total video converter.. its the best software for conversion..

Wrong kind of dat file.

All CDs have subchannel data. As long as there is no LibCrypt protection on the game then just dumping the data track like you would any other normal CD will work.

oh, and it's only one that would work with my IDE->USB adapter, so if somebody had problems with other plugins not accessing drive this might as well work.

Ah very impressive. I've gotten so use to using my internal drive's that I didn't even realize there was a problem with accessing USB drives.

Not bad. I might try it out just to see it in action although I've lost interest in using ePSXe unless I have no other choice. I've had to reconfigure that emulator so many times after a reformat or in between games it seems I'm tweaking it more then actually playing the games I load up in it. As nice as it is I really wish emulators would follow pSX's lead and get rid of that plugin system since it seems to cause more problems then solve them.

The zip file created for the database is merely a generated zip header followed by the generated dat data. While I won't deny that a filesize limit could be the issue (or maybe even the script timing out perhaps) it's hard to think that all that generated data would have a limit.

This issue could easily be caused by bad information that was posted for a game that was added recently.

Have you tried seeing if maybe there is a firmware update that might fix that issue for that drive?

Hello M00NLiGHT,
If you are really the one that dumped RE3 then by all means I see no problem with you being added as the dumper. The dumper list is mostly to try and keep track of the people that have the original dump (and hopefully still has the original disc just in case) and was the one that had the info posted to the site. If you want to you can always join us in the IRC (irc://irc.foreverchat.net/redump) and I'm sure people there will be glad to help you in dumping your games as well.

P.S. Is it just me or have been sounding really formal in my posts lately?

I say best to keep you marked as a dumper unless he actually dumped it himself.

I did some translating on what you guys were saying and while I'll agree that for now promo discs should be excluded unless they come with a game the method for dumping is actually almost the same as any other DVD. You first have to unlock the DVD by loading it with any software DVD player which will allow all the files on the DVD to be read and then dump it with ISOBuster like you would any other DVD. While this isn't effective for playing back the DVD (the CSS encryption is still intact and a standard ISO does not contain the data needed to decrypt it) it's how Dremora wants the DVDs to be dump and it's what he told me to do when I was asking how to dump the DVD-Video disc that comes with God of War 2.

You can also use Alcohol 120% to make a mds/mdf dump and then modify the MDS file and change all of the MDF entries to ISO and use it with the ISO dump from ISOBuster (the .mds and .iso files must have the same file name to be used in this way). When mounted with the MDS file using any virtual drive software that supports the MDS format you can decrypt the DVD using DVD Decrypter or use DVD Region+CSS Free to play the mounted image in any software DVD player.

The DOL MD5 would be the same unless he used that tool that lets you browse the files in the image (I forgot what the name of it was) since that tool gives an incorrect checksum for the DOL.

Try right-clicking on the link and click Save Link As or whatever the browser your are using says and give the server some time to build the file. Once the server is done building it you should be asked where to save the file.

I would think the IFPI part of the ring would at least be the same. Often times those letters are smaller then the rest of the text but they are found on nearly all pressed discs. You could always try and wipe your image to see if it matches and if it does then that other person's dump needs to go...or just be replaced with your dump.

Hm...never thought of it that way...in that case we should say that we have over 9000 games in the database.

That file looks to be part of one of the files on the disc. I can see the data inside what appears to be a text or ini file (or maybe some other file that has human readable text in it). Maybe if I had a copy of more of the data I might be able to see what is going on.

I use a USB enclosure on an old CD burner I've had for years now that I use because it's the only drive I have that can overread and it's been working great (especially considering how old it is). I also have a LiteOn slim USB powered DVD Burner that works great as a reader but only OK as a burner (a lot of coaster especially with double layer discs). It all really depends on the brand you get. Your best bet may be to just get an internal drive with an enclosure since the internal drive's tend to have better quality over their external counterparts.

The data on the disc is the same an any unprotected disc (other then the encrypted exe), it's just the placement of certain sectors that is unique and is something that cannot be replicated in a burned copy (although it can be emulated using twin sectors or RMPS).

No we have dumps of them they just aren't much good without the MDS file or without a crack to bypass the protection. SecuROM protected discs can be dumped just like any other disc if you don't care about emulating the protection.

In the case of SecuROM we don't have the Data Position Measurement info in the data since that would require uploading a MDS file with that data stored in it and I think it's considered illegal to do that.

What's illegal in measurements?

I'm not sure but I've seen a few web sites that offered such files that ended up getting shut down.

We already have a lot of Safedisc and SecuROM protected disc in the database. In the case of SecuROM we don't have the Data Position Measurement info in the data since that would require uploading a MDS file with that data stored in it and I think it's considered illegal to do that.
