I believe winrar do provide a DLL which can be used in ur application, i know that coz psx_renamer used that. maybe we can use that. i will update u about it latter wink

ok i give the DAT Merger a tried, and it worked great, couple of minor issues thou.

1) i registered a account on ur site, it send me an activation link, i click it, But the activation page kept saying "Invalid Activation ID", thou i was able to get the DAT file, so me be my account was activated, it just didn't redirected to correct page

2) the link it gave me to download was

http://static.vg-database.com/tools/dat … 03-28-43)_[vg-Database.com].dat

which have http://static.vg-database.com/tools/dat-converter/ in its start, and it should not be there.

offcourse this make CUE file CRC invalid, as that value will change with the new name, i am thinking a good solution to this problem at the moment, the couple of solution that come to mind is not something i really liked. Hopefully some site admin will implement a way to get these new DAT from this site with Edition Info and correct CUE files.

Once again Thanks a lot for these utilities, i will sure use them.

Actually what i was thinking is that user download 1 dat from here

http://redump.org/datfile/psx/

then the second one from here

http://redump.org/datfile/no-intro/psx/

then load them both in a software, the software took the no-intro dat and then add the serial number to it from the other list, and create a new DAT. so no need for a HTML parser

offcourse for addition of Editions in game name we either need a HTML parser or someone to provide that info in DAT file, but that can be ignored at the moment

oh thats great, i will give it a try and will update u,

if possible could u do one more thing, there is a normal DAT file and then there is a no-intro one. now

this is how a game name look in normal file

Actua Soccer (E) (v1.0) [SLES-00014]

and this is how it look in no-intro file

Actua Soccer (Europe) (En,Fr,Es,It,Nl,Sv,Da,Fi) (v1.0)

if u can make a little program which can combine them into one like this

Actua Soccer (Europe) (En,Fr,Es,It,Nl,Sv,Da,Fi) (v1.0) [SLES-00014] that would be nice. offcourse only if u have time to do so, thanks.

PS: only thing which will be left after that would be to some how add the Edition to the game name, but i am not sure if admins are planing to add that to the DAT file.

Once again thanks a lot for all of ur work.

Is there any way to get the DAT's for RomCenter

Thanks.

also i believe there are two different DAT's which can be used, a normal one and a no-intro one, can someone provide the links to get those

Thanks

Is there any possibility that we can have the original Logo of the site in psd or ai or whatever format. We are having a little contest going on at UG about making torrent description, and need that.

Thanks

Very Nice site, i visited it yesterday and loved the site, unfortunately other visiting it frequently i won't be of much help coz of time constraint.

Thanks for ur work.

PS: and is there any plan to have a offline version of this also.

I believe SBI info should not be in the Dat file if it can't be verified, as that was not what i remember this site purpose was.

for me having info about packiso images CRC or SBI info in a dat is not right, and it should be the responsibilities of the uploaders to download those SBI files and share them with the dumps. also if someone have some packiso images generating a new dat file for those take just few clicks, having that info and regularly update it when ever there is a change related to that image in redump.org DB will only make maintaining the DB hard.

PS: i would rather like the dat file to be updated so that the naming scheme of the files can be updated to reflect more proper game name then having these info.

oh ok, i see

i'm sorry about that, but i won't upload anything anymore
i hope those missing images would motivate people to redump them and join project
maybe they would see things as i see them regarding naming and would somehow accelerate an decision
that may be stupid, but about only thing i can do

Wow pretty selfish act man and I hope we don't see this kind of pointless protest from other people on this site? I don't see the point in hoarding dumps in hopes that more people will redump EXPENSIVE hard to obtain discs from Japan? The last thing this site needs is dumpers not willing to share because of some personal protest.

This site is about disc PRESERVATION. BadSector isn't some leecher collecting images just for himself the guy makes a great effort to distribute dumps to help ensure preservation. Redumps will come in time and more people will join and help as time goes on. For the sake of game preservation I hope you reconsider your stand.

Actually i agree with themabus, when i started to upload redump.org games at UG one of my main 2 intentions what that with this more peoples will know about the project and will dump there games from there collection. and thou i did received a lot of help in spreading those dumps, not many peoples actually become new dumpers. i would actually like to see more and more peoples to dump there original games for redump.org, coz no matter if they share it or not if they will dump it and expand the redump.org DB, we will have those games somehow big_smile

and as i said before i would myself like the naming scheme to be updated.

I see what u are saying, and that why we also provide a change list which list games which has been changed since the last update, thou at this moment all this is done manually, and a automated solution would be great. the compressed crc dat files are for peoples like me who have miss couple of updates and thus can use that dat to quickly find which games need to be updated

about namings of the games, thou i am a big fan of serial # coz thats what i have been using since Psx_renamer days, but i do agree, we need to somehow provide the info what version of a game a said dump is.

i personally don't worry how long a game name is as long as it provides the following info

GameName-region-Language-version-edition-serial

PS: i need patches for few PSX Asia games dumped by u, and maybe few tracks/full images, could u provide that somehow.

I am not sure about other sets, as uploaders of those didn't use the forum post of the project at UG, but packiso has worked a lot better with PSX, and community have accepted its use, infact one of our project torrent have a dat file with packiso's CRC for quick renaming, and we plan to release the dat with every update from now on, which should solve the time issue in renaming those sets.

so i believe packiso is going a good Job there at the moment, thou i myself would like a merged set at some point to save HDD space, i have 2.5TB space and its almost full for last 6 months or so.

PS: we also made a little installer there which make it easy to work with packiso, if some want he can use that also.

Here is the link to packps2

the file extension should be iso for it to work. if you have more then one image, u can either put them in a single folder or in subfolders and it will compress them all.

Actually No, it will not create same Archive on different PCs, if you look into your Packiso folder, there will be a file called RMDtrach.exe (or somewhat similar name), that exe it what make it possible to get same images on different PC.

Well, yes, i forgot rmdtrash. What is does is zeroing the created/modified/accessed times.
Still 7za will create exactly the same files on different machines with exactly (Which means file times are identical, too) the same source files. smile

Oh thanks for this info, didn't knew that. So this mean that if i used the ultra setting instead of default in Packps2, it will still make the same Archives?

now for wii, search this forum for packps2 and use that to compress DVD base image, it will create same archives on different PCs, just a note, packps2 has been only tested for PS2 images, so thou it should work ok for wii also, making a backup is highly recommended.

yeah, the loop function should be fixed...

yes this software need lot of changes, the version everyone is using was just a test program, which i just created using help from iR0b0t. Those shortcomings will be removed in the next version.

PS: Also the core working of this software are not written by me, it was done by ajax16384, since PackISO didn't worked with PS2 images, i took couple of program file packiso used and just created a FrontEnd to make thing easy. Just updating because i don't want to take credit of something i didn't did.

just one thing, I believe current settings in your tool let 7z compress images as solid archive ?!
that could be a problem if you will rename file names later after compression if the db name changes !?

what do you think?

actually its uses the default setting, and i don't think solid archive option is on by default. but i also believe that its better to recompress the image then to use a file in 7z to make sure that file didn't get corrupted.

and i was reading the help of 7z other day and there was a command which one can use (thou at the moment i am not sure exactly how to use it) to get crc of a file without recompressing it, so we can also have our custom renamer, to save some time.

It appears that an exe was dissected to extract this 'serial' roll If that means that both the serial on the case and label and the serial in the exe filename are different, then I really don't see why SCPS-10008 needs to be there.. it could be just leftovers from old code that got compiled into the exe.

According to my knowlegde its actually not leftover, what actually happened was that in the start Japaneses game didn't use to have system.cnf and serial files, they used to have psx.exe, and the serial number could only be seen by opening the exe file in notepad and searching for string BI or :BI. there were few exception where this method would fail and only way to know about ID of a game was to look at covers.

now its not that i am in favor of using the internal ID, as i said in other thread i would like to use cover ID myself. i provided ID for that game by extracting psx.exe coz that actually also exist in game image and according to me should also be present in the database.

since giving suggestion in not a bad thing here is my little suggestion (i tried to explain it in other thread but i think i didn't do a very good job coz of my bad english)

1) Use the ID on the cover
2) if two images have same CRC's but different ID's on covers use the original one in renaming the game and have both present in the database
3) as themabus said in any case use the version number also to shows development hierarchy.

for example
if we talk about these two game

http://redump.org/disc/3924/
http://redump.org/disc/1902/

i would say rename the first one using SCPS-10089 and have that serial in DB, then rename the second one using this ID SCPS-91208 but have both the serials in database. then add (1.0) to the first one and (1.1) to the second one to show its development hierarchy or some similar version number method.

Hopefully all this make sense.
