I'm just waiting for my PX-760 to dump my DC games. In fact, I bought Resident Evil - Code Veronica (J) today waiting for it.

I live in Brazil, but I was able to get a new Plextor Premium in Amazon.

F1ReB4LL: What's the advantage of using a trapdisc with regular CDs?

AFAIK, only Plextors have this feature, but I've heard some rumors, that some recent LGs also support it (though, PerfectRip doesn't work with them, anyway). You can try to use the trap disc method, though (but, again, not all the drives allow it).

There are plenty of drives (old ones) that can overread into the leadout. What is exclusive of plextors is the D8 read command.

@Devcon: Did you test the other drives?

Use the one that can overread into the leadout.
Create a test CD in EAC and see which one can.
It'll be difficult to find a new drive that has this feature hmm

Any of you guys own a Lite-On LH-20A1S?

The patch won't work with the version in the db.
It needs v1.0 [SLPS-02100] which was in the db and for some reason got deleted.

BTW, version 1.0a of the patch is out.

Sotho Tal Ker: The differences are only on the 2 first and 2 last offsets of the file smile
Probably touch is missing something that rmdtrash cleans.

I compiled p7zip 4.53 on a OpenBSD system (Pentium III 800MHz), used "touch -t 197912310900.00" on the file and compressed it with "7za a file.7z file.ecm"; then I used packiso on a WinXP SP3 system (AMD Sempron 3000+) on the same file.
Though the 7z size was the same on both machines, their md5 was different.

It's a shame that the guys who did torrentzip have no intention of doing a torrent7z...

...but this could happen with torrentzip aswell

No, it couldn't wink
Unless there was an error of course.

But seriously, from what I know of torrentzip, it was designed specifically to make identical results regardless of machine/OS (most probably by using integers only).

I thought the same could be done with 7zip, so when you said that PackISO got identical results on different machines I thought this was the case.

Are you sure about that Sotho Tal Ker? Even the slightest difference in floating-point calculations across CPU's/OS's can cause the archive to be completely different. Unless 7zip uses only integers values. Do you know if that's the case?

Hey guys, do you know any new drive that has the following features?
1) Supports D8 read command (for use px_d8)
2) Can overread in to Lead-In and Lead-Out
3) Proper pregap detection

My plextor just started acting crazy so I need a new drive.

Thanks

Quake II and Unreal are unprotected so you can dump them using the guide.

Only my plextor could overread the audio track and match your dump, with my other two drives I always got a Sync Error at 99%.
What was really strange to me was the fact that the plextor couldn't read the data track, luckily I was able to dump it with the other two drives.
Now that you said it's OK I'm going to submit it smile

Hey guys I just got the PS one Books edition of this game and I'm having some issues.

First I can't detect the pregap on track 2 in EAC with neither of my 3 drives (always shows 0:00), but if dump track 2 with my plextor and manually add the pregap I'm able to match the hash from r09's dump.
Seeking to the pregap sector (231905) in Isobuster I'm able to detect the +2 factory offset that also matches r09's and px_d8.

The real problem is that I can't dump track 1 properly with the plextor, I always get an error on sector 231904. Dumping with the other drives I don't get any errors but after resizing and running "psxt001z --fix" on it I get the following fix:

psxt001z by Dremora, v0.20 beta 13 derus fix

File: Track 01.bin

Form 2 sectors: 173454
 "Bad" headers: 0

Checking postgap...
Postgap type: Form 1

Sector 231904: Form 1 Subheader/Data/EDC/ECC (fixed)

Is this sector defective in the disc itself? Is the fix from psxt001z enough?

Just in case it helps, this is what I see in isobuster:
