What do you think guys, of adding the language tag in the datfile for each game? The way is now can be a little confusing for some people, because some think (E) is the language English and not the region (Europe).

I think the region is clear to know if we see the serial, and it's redundant to including it again with a region tag.

How about something like this?:

Action Man - Mission Xtreme (Da,Du,En,Fi,Fr,Ge,It,No,Sp,Sw) [SLES-01761]
Actua Golf 3 (En) [SLES-01042]
Actua Soccer (v1.1) (En,Fr) [SLES-00014]

I think it's much more useful seeing the language tags that the region one, if we already can know the region seeing the serial. That way we don't need to come here and search in the database what languages are supported.

It's only a sugestion smile

Hello, i'm dumping the game: "E.T. el extraterrestre - Mision interplanetaria (S) [SLES-03805]"

This game has 1 data track + 12 audio tracks, and EAC detects a pregap of 2 secs for each track.

Following the guide i dumped the data track correctly, but i can't detect the Factory Write Offset, that is the value EAC will use for ripping the audio tracks correctly.

In IsoBuster selecting Track 02 > Sector View (RAW Mode), the track starts at LBA: 42666.

My drive has a read offset of +667, and i understand i have to go back -148 sectors - 1 sector. But the sector 42517 (that is -149) is filled with zeros. If i go back 1 sector more i can see:

LBA :42516

0000 : 20 0B 58 07 7A 82 A3 21 B9 D8 72 DA A5 9B 3B 2B .X.z..!..r...;+
0010 : 53 5F 7D F8 21 82 98 61 AA A8 7F 3E A0 10 78 0C S_}.!..a...>..x.
0020 : 22 85 D9 A3 1A F9 CB 02 D7 41 9E B0 68 74 2E A7 "........A..ht..
0030 : 5C 7A B9 E3 32 C9 D5 96 DF 2E D8 1C 5A 89 FB 26 \z..2.......Z..&
0040 : C3 5A D1 FB 1C 43 49 F1 F6 C4 46 D3 72 DD E5 99 .Z...CI...F.r...

That is 5 * 16 = 80 / 4 = 20 samples

Because i have to go back 1 sector more i will add +588 samples

That is 588 + 20 = 608 (Combined Read/Write Offset)

Then the offset value EAC will use for ripping the audio tracks is +608?

Now to calculate the Factory Write Offset: 608 - 667 = -57

It's that correct? I think no roll

Thanks in advance.

you should use a tool like startstop to speed up/down the drive to avoid damages on disc and drive

I know, i used startstop first to speed down the drive roll wink

Well, i tried using the trap-disc method and don't work for my reader, i opened an closed the tray a lot of times, but don't work, in fact, the reader scratched a little the game cd hmm but anyway thanks for the tip.

@Devcon: Did you test the other drives?

I only tested it with the LG GSA4167b (overread Lead-In) and a Toshiba SD-M1402 (no overread at all). Today if i have time i will test the LG CRD-8483B smile

I still suggest you to try the trapdisc method.

Sorry but i think the trapdisc method was only available to dump DC GD-Rom drives? It works on PSX games too? I can't see that method in the main psx dumping guide, can you point me to it please? smile

Thanks for the help. Finally the game is dumped smile the dummy track matches the european one smile

That's pretty sad indeed, today i purchased one game that is not in the database that has an audio track:

. Resident Evil 2 (S) (Disk 1) [SLES-00976]
. Resident Evil 2 (S) (Disk 2) [SLES-10976]

So, actually there is no way of dumping that game other than with a plextor drive? I can try with the toshiba with has -472 RO, don't know if the audio track is equal to the European version of the game either.

Edit: I just found that EAC found a pregap in Track 2 of 0 seconds with the Toshiba drive, it must be 2 seconds if i look at the European version [SLES-00972]

Ok thanks, i just found that the gsa4167b can not everread into the leadout (only the leadin). Now testing the 2 others smile

Hi all, i have a question pls smile

I have 3 old drives lying around, a LG GSA4167b (RO +667, WO +0), LG CRD-8483B (Read Offset +12, WO ?) and a Toshiba SD-M1402 (RO -472, WO ?). Wich one should i use for ripping PSX audio tracks? Are any of these good, or should i go out and buy a new one?

I think i should use and combine the 2 ones with +667 and -472 offsets just for diferent games right? thanks.
