Like with No-Intro's database. That way it can be determined which scene dumps are good and which are bad.
scene dumps > care level 0

lol.. just make a forum thread
@Nexy
Why it relevant that you do not care about scene dumps? (Unless you are in charge, then I apologize).
@Jackal
I will. Though I am not so sure what is funny about suggesting database integration.
Which system are you talking about specifically? because IIRC OneUp group just repackaged a lot of redump dumps and released them as scene.
EEEEEEE
The SPICE must flow.

Wii and GameCube is what I am used to. If a scene release were stolen from a redump dump, then it would be marked as such.
EEEEEEE
Shhh
ok

Ehh, i don't think we can talk of stolen stuff here, because we do not release any isos
Besides of that, who would mark own release as stolen?
I don't think anybody on this planet would be that fair in doing so.
True. Ehh. I guess redump doesn't care about people downloading rare things like protos or demos of the internet? Only making backups?
Right, but "backups" in meaning of no isos!

Okay.
Would it be okay to make a thread showing what scene dumps match the good dumps (redump's dumps) and which don't, or would that not be allowed?
The were such lists in the past available here, but i guess they are not of any interest anymore as we already have around 95% of all the gamecube releases preserved, and wii scene releases are at 99% good.

I made such lists for the gamecube, but as IR0b0t says were done with those lists a long time ago.
But they are allowed, I will dig out the links for my lists so you have an idea of how it could look, they are a good idea, and most of the wii stuff matches, gamecube not as much (and done).
Just checked the posts are long gone, I think last time the forum had a major change.
Hiccup please make a thread of your wish list of games, you can even put next to the games known scene dumps and any relevant info like hashes, I for one promise I will take a look at your wish list, large or small, and see if I can buy anything on it to dump. That's easier than the other way, and no I don't promise to buy the E3 demo, I looked on ebay and couldn't see it, but I did look, if it had been on ebay I would have considered buying it.
The SPICE must flow.
I don't care because scene releases are not the disc you can buy from the store, there would be no reason to keep a database of them because likely the hashes on any further dumps for verification would not ever match.
I don't mean to come off rude either, it's just this site is intended as a database for people to dump their own discs and to verify that they have made a good dump. It is not the intention of the site to dump games and spread them to the world at large, because that's piracy and against the law in most countries.
I hope you can understand.

I do.
Would making patches (e.g. xdelta) to convert normal versions of games into rare one, and posting them be acceptable?
That way people who own the actual game, can still play around with versions that weren't sold without having to buy or download the demo/beta.
There is a subforum already for patches.
99% of us here don't need a patch we are quite capable of getting any scene release, we would much prefer someone bought and dumped it, that's what we want/are about.
99% of people probably don't care about this 1 Zelda game they are much more concerned with the bigger picture, like stuff that people have gone to the trouble to dump, for pretty much every system, I know I am putting this Zelda game down a bit, that's because I don't have it or particularly care about it. And if it ever was dumped by a tall, dark, handsome stranger then I am guessing it would be fairly easy to get the dump, with a scene version out their.
Sorry about the harshness of my comments, but were going backwards not forwards, just dump the original, that keeps everyone happy. And if it is so rare that it will never ever be dumped, just put the scene version were it belongs in your collection.
The SPICE must flow.
The only reason this Zelda isn't dumped is because its rare, hard to hunt down, expensive to buy, same with a million other games, some of the price of neo-geo-cd is scary, not to mention all those Naomi Discs, and practically every Japanese shoot-em-up goes for silly money, even Anime games, or Anime shoot-em-ups fetch a pretty penny.
So that leaves lots of games that need buying for redump, or you can just wait and hope some new member comes along to join the site and dump his originals, obviously that's the way for most dumpers, just hope new games come along by themselves, rather than make it one persons mission to buy every missing game for redump. I think everyone here knows some games fetch big money, and its more about waiting patiently, and coming across these dumps done by our members from time to time.
Redump = snowball effect, the more people contribute their own dumps, the bigger the snowball. Were all in the same boat dump whatever we can properly, and wait to see what we have eventually.
And I think everyone here will agree redump = big snowman. Just with a couple of Jewels missing from his crown.
Hope that explains or helps explains what were about.
The SPICE must flow.

How can you access the patches sub-forum? I don't have a problem with getting scene releases. But I'm more interested in verified/trusted dumps rather than scene dumps, thats why I am interested in patches.
