Re: [Various] Title fix

Hello and sorry to bump this old topic, but I would like to do thses name fixes.
However I'm a little confused on which titles to uses? Are the ones provided by fuzzball "more" valid than the ones from sarami? Sorry, but I'm lost here.

Re: [Various] Title fix

Depends on what kind of romanization you use. big_smile

Re: [Various] Title fix

Fuzzball corrected the titles to wapuro romaji, which is a common way of romanizing Japanese. With wapuro romaji, long vowels are

long a = "aa"
long i = "ii"
long u = "uu"
long e = "ee"
long o = "ou"

so Furai (風来) becomes Fuurai, and Netchu (熱中) becomes Netchuu.

The extra u indicates the pronuniciation a little better (in Japanese furai is pronounced more like "foo-rye", not "fry", and netchu is more like "net-chew", not "netch")

Problem is, it's pretty inconsistent. For example, Tokyo should actually be Toukyou, because it has long vowels and it's pronounced that way in Japanese. Also names of people, like Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. In wapuro romaji it's actually Kenshirou.

I think it's easier and more consistent to just drop the long vowels and use "Furai", "Netchu" etc. The people who really care about it can probably read the original Japanese anyway.

edit: The long vowel is a matter of opinion, but otherwise you should use sarami's corrections. He fixed many other issues.

In general, 魔法=mahou, 騎士=Kishi. But this word is created Clamp.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clamp_(manga_artists)

Well, since there's an additional Kana spelling above 魔法騎士, I guess, it's ok to rename it to Magic Knight, No-Intro also uses this title, btw:

You mean, 'Gyuwanburaa' is a some deformed parody word for 'Gambler' or what? If yes, how would you write "Gambler" in Hiragana, then?

"Gambler"=ぎゃんぶらー

What do you think about "Gyuwambler" instead of "Gyuwanburaa"? Like on http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-gam … d-JPN.html

And what's about http://redump.org/disc/23455/ -- "Puzzledama" or "Pazurudama"?
And http://redump.org/disc/20097/ -- "Taiketsu Rooms!" or "Taiketsu Rumi-Zu"?
It looks like people don't like to convert the words written in Hiragana into English analogues.

Btw, what to do in cases, when Japaneses themselves don't know, how to spell the word? smile
Example: http://redump.org/disc/4520/

http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%A8% … A%E9%8C%B2 -- this article says: ヨハネの黙示録(ヨハネのもくしろく、古代ギリシア語: Ἀποκάλυψις Ἰωάννου、ラテン語: Apocalypsis Iōannis), means 黙示録 = もくしろく = Mokushiroku.
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%81%BD% … A%E9%8C%B2 -- this article says: 『偽典・女神転生 東京黙示録』(ぎてん・めがみてんせい とうきょうもくじろく), means 黙示録 = もくじろく = Mokujiroku.

Title screen says "Mahjongland", btw, no space.

This problem is worried for me...

'ぎゅわんぶらあ' is parsed like this => ぎゅ=gyu, わ=wa, ん=n, ぶ=bu, ら=ra, あ=a
If 'Gyuwambler' is converted into Hiragana, it is 'ぎゅわんぶらー'
'ぎゅわんぶら-' is parsed like this => ぎゅ=gyu, わ=wa, ん=m, ぶらー=bler

But at the point of the pronunciation, ぶらあ and ぶらー is same.
e.g.
トーキョー、東京、とうきょう、トウキョウ is same pronunciation for Japanese.

So, I think both "gyuwanburaa" and "gyuwambler" is proper.

ぱずる isn't parody word. So I think "Puzzle" is proper.

This isn't ろみーず but るみーず. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%AF%BE% … C%E3%81%9A
るみーず is original word for this game.
I don't know what るみーず means. But if this word is romanized, I think "Rumi-zu" is proper.

黙示録=もくしろく in these article.

Generally, 黙示録 is もくしろく=mokushiroku. I don't know this game but I think もくじろく is mistake possibly.

Another "funny" case: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: … 9%E3%82%93 -- says:
ラングリッサー 〜光輝の末裔〜(らんぐりっさーこうきのまつえい), means 光輝 = こうき = kouki, while on the cover itself it's ひかり = hikari

Maybe it's "Rumizu" and みーず = 水? The game itself is like bomberman in the water.

http://redump.org/disc/29770/ -- is it correct? not "Shiyouyo"?

Generally 光輝 = こうき = kouki

or
光輝 = みつてる = mitsuteru
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%A8%AA% … 9%E8%BC%9D

But this game looks like 光輝 = ひかり = Hikari
http://vgmdb.net/album/2522
http://nicogame.info/watch/sm17274216

So, article of wikipedia is maybe wrong..

I think "Shiyouyo" is right.
