1. Check "Add MD5"
2. Check "Add SHA1"
3. Click "...", and select the folder containing your BIN files.
4. Click "...", and select the location and name to save your dat file as.
5. Set the DAT format to Deprecated. (This isn't needed anymore, but I prefer the old format to XML.)
6. Create your dat.

You'll get a DAT file like this:

What do i put type in the dat file box? the name of the game or something? I've never done this before

Before creating a .dat, make sure the field under "Dat-File" is properly filled. It won't prompt you after hitting the button like usual proggies do. Once it's filled, you should be able to "Create" a .dat.

Then open that .dat file with notepad and copy/paste the hashes if needed. If you are dealing with a single .iso file, then this is pretty much not necessary since using a simple tool like "HashCalc" can do it faster with a single drag & drop of the file. Clrmame's dir2dat function is cool when dealing with multi-track discs.

The problem is the jackal said "when the .dat is created" but he never told me how to create the dat? I point clrmame to the folder with the iso in, then what do I do? click create? I did that but nothing happens so what do I need to do to create this dat, what do I press? and will it save a dat somewhere? will i have to tell it where to put it?

Uhm, you haven't actually stated what your problem is, but if I get it right, you can't submit the disc, because the data seems to be wrong.
I can only agree on that, I hate that clrmame thing too and I have no clue how is that thing supposed to work either.
I had a lot of problems getting a hang of it, but then I finally found out what needs to be done.

From the dat file created by the program, copy only those lines which start with rom.
I think the structure is rom(data here) per each track. copy only those and it should work properly.

Need a lil help with the new disc thing. I've installed clrmame. I've followed these instructions,
just start clrmame, go to the 'dir2dat' tab and uncheck everything except 'Add MD5' and 'Add SHA1'(Done that),
then point it to the folder containing the dump, (I've clicked on the Source Folder under input and output and pointed it to my folder with the iso in)
and when the .dat is created, ( I assume I needed to click the create button? I did and it did nothing? I must be missing something)
copy the line with the .iso info and paste it in the new disc field (Haven't got this far yet )

Just remember I don't know what I'm doing so don't expect me to have clicked on anything else if it wasn't mentioned in the above stuff. I have no clue how to use this program
