It is going definitely to far, we should distinguish between unneeded game developer string (like EA Sports and that weird NFS pre-fix) & producer and/or copyright holder (like Disney, Tony Hawk, Tom Clancy ...)

In case of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" is Disney one of the three developers, and I would not count it as disneys title (?)

i vote also for excluding the disney tag. the naming at redump is very inconsistent.

there's also "disney" on the box but it doesn't appear in the db entries.

Kirkland is absolutely right, no one needs it and it only makes the filenames longer.

the difference between "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell / Rainbow Six" & "Splinter Cell / Rainbow Six" isn't big and you always have to look at letter T in DB for these games what is annoying.

I think it's better to remove Disney, Disney/Pixar prefixes where they are not needed or they are not in the main title (ex: "Disney Sports: Soccer" ---> here is needed). IMO all other prefixes like "XYZ presents" have to be removed if they are not needed (ex: http://redump.org/discs/quicksearch/roa … presents/)

EA Sports NBA Live 2004? (and all of their franchises to go with it)

EA is a game producer and EA is part of the title (ex: "Fifa Soccer" has no EA in title but it's produced by EA)

My vote would be to take out the Disney, Disney/Pixar prefixes. If you look at no-intro's DS and GBA dats, they do not have them in the title for games like Cars, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, etc.

Kirkland brought up a valid issue on IRC about whether to include the Disney and Disney/Pixar logo part in the main title..

Let's take Finding Nemo as an example:

The spine title is clearly 'Finding Nemo'.. also, no official sources call it 'Disney/Pixar Finding Nemo'.. So maybe it's best to drop this stuff from the title?

This one says 'Disney/Pixar's Toy Story Racer' lol.. Other sources just call it 'Toy Story Racer' though, so only the spine has this (in fact most psx games appear to have Disney/Pixar in spine.. but the PS2 ones for instance don't).

So, what should we do with these titles? How far do we go with adding text that's on the cover? We're not adding EA Sports to every game that has it on the cover? And there are many more examples as Kirkland pointed out to me.

Personally, I think it's best to remove these parts from the title, unless they're really part of the title because it's a Disney version of a previous work.. But in those cases I think it's called 'Walt Disney's...' anyway.. Jungle Book is an example of this.

I don't know if we can rely on just the spine.. But if we correct according to spine, most Disney/Pixar should be removed.
