@Fireball, no it doesn't matter what drive you use, it will offset the subs the same. I have the magic 2.5 sheep burner though, I will have to dig it out and test.

@marzsyndrome, you can pretty much think that CDRWin is dead and won't be updated anymore. Same for most other old burning programs. Like I said, give clonecd a go, it should work for what you need.

Now see, I always find Nero's strong point to be in its data backup abilities - I only ever use it to back up stuff onto DVDs.

It doesn't seem to me like it's as dedicated a cd-image burner as ones more geared towards it like ImgBurn, CDRWin etc.

Looking up information on Goldenhawk through the web I've read stuff like how they supposedly shut up shop a year or two back, killed their e-mail addresses and allowed a plastic surgeon to take over the phone number. Yet CDRWin got updated earlier this year after a two-year silence. So I'm not sure what's going on.

I've always been of the opinion that (Goldenhawk's) CDRWin can do no wrong when it comes to burning BIN/CUE images. I recall adopting it a few years ago after noticing it burned Neo Geo CD games a lot better than other programs like Alcohol and Nero (both of which would affect the audio one way or another), having learnt this via a comparison test.

However, I recently noticed that it seems to not support SATA disc drives (or at least not my Samsung, which I purchased quite recently), despite being updated as recently as May of this year. Luckily I also have an IDE burner installed in my system, but I wonder if this is a sign that - as SATA gradually makes IDE obsolete - this program will soon no longer serve a purpose to most modern day users? Attempting to contact Goldenhawk through the one e-mail addy displayed on their website resulted in a bounced email.

I occasionally use ImgBurn to burn images, but I'm not sure if this really burn at as a good a quality as CDRWin, having not performed a comparison test to date. Though it at least supports SATA.

What do you think?
