No, it needs a 0xD8 reading command support, any drive that supports it should be fine.

Still struggling to get a compatible (listed) Plex drive. Have come to some old CD-Rom ones (e.g., PX-w1210xx (y. 2000): PX-W2410 (y. 2002) but have no clue if these would fit. I'm only interested in CD-Rom based media, mostly PC and a couple of localized PSX discs.

Also, is there a command on DIC or something that tells me if the drive is compatible? Or is DIC based on a sort of internal list, to ID compatible drives?

(sorry if this is a repost, you can del/merge if other similar thread exists. I just didn't want to clutter DICs discussion thread anymore than it is)
